Meet Kimberley Harris of Prestigious Pearls Dance Academy in Decatur

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberley Harris.

Kimberley, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
DANCE IS LIFE and it has helped me become the woman I am today! I honestly don’t know where I would be or who I would have become if dance wasn’t apart of my life!

From the age of six, sisterhood, loyalty, leadership, poise, grace, are just a few great attributes that dance has installed into my life that I will forever be grateful for.

I’ve been blessed with many opportunities from childhood to now, to travel and to install my passion into others.

Not only did I participate in community organizations and high school dance line such as South Augusta Marching Unit, Augusta Marching AllStars, Certified Gold Eaglettes, I was able to perfect my craft and dance for CSRA All-Star Marching Band which was a program that hand select students from different high schools in that area to compete, perform, and travel along the southeast area.

That later blessed me with the opportunity to try out for seven different collegiate marching Bands. Which I selected my HBCU and now Alma Matar, Benedict College in Columbia SC.

Not only was my HBCU a major milestone in my life it was there I developed my leadership roles and discovered the true meaning of sisterhood.

After college is where the fun really begin, my talents landed me with one of the best jobs of my life….. Walt Disney World, where I danced and perform in your favorite parade through out the park, flew down Main Street, and dressed up as some of our favorite characters.

After that milestone I wanted to make a change and do something that was more fulfilling to my heart.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road but with prayer and support it becomes easier to push towards the right goals.

Please tell us about Prestigious Pearls Dance Academy – what should we know?
iPILOT Foundation stands for I Promise I’ll Land on Top!

Our program has several pillars that include basketball, football, cheer, and dance. We have grown our program into a non profit organization that is now credit as a 501c3.

We run the basketball program where we have Georgia Kingz Elite which is our AAU youth team, Georgia Kingz which is our Pro basketball league that has earned the title of a National and Divisional Championship, Georgia Kingettes which are the adult cheer and dancers to the Kingz basketball program, and Prestigious Pearls Dance Academy which is our youth competition dance team.

We believe in giving back to our community and installing health and wellness into our youth.

Our studio is located in the heart of Decatur, we are set on the purpose to EDUCATE to ENTERTAIN & to EMPOWER!

God deserves all the credit honestly, our program has received blessings after blessings! It takes a village to raise a child and we have the support of each other and our amazing staff! Majority of our staff is from Augusta, GA and they share the same passion as us! We are family and our bonds are stronger than ever! Together, we keep the programs alive and running!
