Today we’d like to introduce you to Levina J.
Levina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a Wife, Mother, YouTube/Digital Content Creator, Actress and Entrepreneur.
I was born in San Antonio, Texas. My mother was a single parent and wanted a better life for herself and I, so she joined the Armed Forces and I was raised as a military brat.
With constant moving, I really found my passion and creative outlet in theatre. So I began acting at a young age. As time went on, I graduated high school and went to college for Theatre Performance and subsequently fell in love with the beauty industry and ended up going to Trade School for Esthetics where I ended up learning Makeup Artistry and working in that industry for few years.
More time went on and I decided to move to LA to pursue my dreams of Acting and Added Cinema Makeup to the list of goals. That was in 2014 and it started really well. Unfortunately, I ended up (like a lot of young women do) building relationships with the wrong people. I was told I wasn’t ready for the career I was pursuing, I was convinced that I had no real value, no real worth. I became a wife and mother at 24 and was told on multiple occasions by those same people that I was doing a poor job at that. There is way more into that story, but I eventually got to a point where I was so discouraged I gave up on everything and ended up getting an administrative work and working in hospitals for the next four years.
In 2019, I had my second child and he was a saving grace. With the encouragement of my husband, I broke away from those toxic relationships and together, we began the conversation of entrepreneurship and financial freedom. With the help of AMAZING FAMILY and REAL friends, the transition from Los Angeles to Atlanta began. To explain, it is only what I can describe as Divine. Georgia was one of the states I lived in as a young girl where unfortunately I experienced a lot of trauma. I told myself then “I WOULD NEVER COME BACK”. And I think this is why our parents say “never say never” because since I placed my roots here at the end of 2019 Atlanta has been the land of milk & honey for me and my family. I ended up getting booked on my first tv show and cast with two other beautiful women on an amazing podcast called “Women Unplugged” here in Atlanta. These women changed my whole outlook on the city and helped me turn all my doubts into hope. The importance of a tribe and a team is something I will say is vital to the growth and expansion of mindsets and business. Having the support of your family is a BEAUTIFUL thing. You sprinkle in the empowerment of other women or just genuine people who are pursuing their dreams and coming alongside you as you do the same. I’m telling you we become unstoppable!
The flood gates have opened and I am NOT going back! My New YouTube channel is launched. It’s called “Just Levina”. It’s called that because I want people to know it is okay to “just be” yourself there are so many extraordinary things that are attached to who you are and that only you can give to the world. I also use the platform to provide News and opinions based on the current state of our country that some people may or may not know. In addition, I am in the infancy stages of starting my own production business in partnership with my husband.
2020 has been and continues to be a year of Redemption and Revelation for me. I am excited to see what happens next!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The biggest struggle I would say is not understanding worth and realizing the importance of those you choose to be apart of and speak into the journey you are on.
There is a certain strength that is required to grow and attain the dreams that you have no matter what field. And we all have different perspectives. Some say “well the rich have it better because they have more money”. One could argue that is accurate, however I have never seen a president leave the White House without grey hair. Lol, stress is real. On the flip side, those with money argue “those with less than have it easier because there are less worries”. Again I’ve never seen a single mother who is working a full-time job, going to school, and grinding it out on her side hustle say “ohhh this is so much easier”.
It’s all perspective. I have been learning so even with my struggles, I have tendency to play devil’s advocate so I can see all sides and REALLY learn on how to get through to the other side.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Right now I am most focused on building my digital production/services company with my husband, and my YouTube channel. I believe a key part of my focus comes from my resilience. It can honestly be easier to give up sometimes because then you never have to concern yourself with the possibility of failure. But trying and putting 110% into your business and brand not knowing if it will hit its mark is nerve-racking but also one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I personally define success by goals fulfilled and moments of enjoyment. I am personally someone who makes vision boards, by doing that I have learned that by the end of each year there are things in my life that have manifested and that to me is success. Financial abundance is a part of that as well, but in addition having moments of enjoyment where you’re just enjoying a great meal with friends or you know having a romantic dinner with your significant other, Seeing your children walk, or talk, or read for the first time. Even sipping your favorite cocktail! Those moments of enjoyment Are the things that make your life full. That is success to me.
