Meet Lia Monet

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lia Monet.

Lia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a native New Yorker and grew up in a single mom household. I attended an HBCU but ultimately graduated from a small college in NY. As a wife and mom of four, my family and I live in Virginia. After having my fourth child I started a personalized party decor business called Embellish. (www.instagram.com/embellish_your_lifestyle) As Embellish started growing I began attending different networking events and conferences as a vendor and I would find myself engaging with other vendors in attendance, all in various stages of their business, helping them to tweak their displays or giving them advice on their branding. I discovered that not only did I have a nack for it but a true passion for helping women to grow their ideas into full-fledged brands. It would literally be a natural high for me. I am a firm believer that entrepreneurship is a vehicle, not only for building personal wealth but to strengthen communities and help to dismantle generational cycles of low income/poverty. So, I’m excited to help any and every one through the journey.

Initially I started providing logos and other digital aesthetics as well as strategy consulting. This is when I realized that I had a unique ability for igniting women to go after their passions and purpose and Her Hectic Life was born. (www.herhecticlife.com)

Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth road… those exist? Doing anything outside of what you’re used to seeing comes along with struggles and for most of us entrepreneurship is not what we were groomed for growing up. I think the most challenging thing is not having a blueprint so there is a lot of trial and error and lack of support initially.

Her Hectic Life – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
In the last few years Her Hectic Life has evolved to include a subscription program called #IssaTribe for womanpreneurs. The program is designed to get female entrepreneurs together, virtually and/or in person, for the purpose of networking, fellowship, sharing resources and collaborating.

Our signature event, Ladies Who Launch, is a weekend conference geared toward providing boss women education, empowerment and experiences! There are workshops, speakers, panel of experts, vendor market and an impressive VIP upgrade.

We’ve also been able to start Eta Eta Lambda Society, which is a coalition of womenpreneurs with the common interest of leading, inspiring and amplifying each other. We pride ourselves in community service, collaborative enterprise and gifting business scholarships for woman who want to grow their brands. In fact, earlier this year we presented our first #GrindGoddess scholarship to a small business! Eta Eta Lambda also has initiatives for youth entrepreneurs such as workshops and a mentor program. I am continuously sharpening my skills to provide the best services to my clients, whether that’s marketing classes at a local college, being a contributor to Fierce Life Magazine or becoming a Certified Life Coach. I am committed to assisting my fellow biz builders find clarity, strategize and become successful.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I have visited ATL for conferences and serve many clients in the area. And I am always blown away by the sense of sisterhood and camaraderie amongst female entrepreneurs.
