Meet Lily Benton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lily Benton.

Hi Lily, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
At the age of 13 years old, I discovered my passion for art. I had won a drag race car design contest with a prize of $1000 which really made me feel great! Not only was I doing what I loved, but I was able to get paid for it! I freelanced all throughout high school with projects from family and friends, but deep down I knew art wasn’t my only passion. There was something more that I was capable of than being labeled as a Graphic Designer. I had a love for helping people and business. While I was trying to figure myself out to become satisfied with my career choice, I began working as a Graphic Designer for a local print shop. I learned the ins and outs of the business, but there was still something missing. I knew I was a natural leader and wanted to make a change in the design industry. That’s when it clicked. I spoke with my boss about my passion for business and he gave me full support to go after it. I left my design job and became a bartender to make some quick cash to help fuel my dream and keep bread on the table. After 2 years, I was able to officially start Blue Lotus Graphics. The company is all about reputation, trust, and transparency. We get personable with clients and take our time understanding their pain points to educate them on the different avenues they can take to help them build their brand the right way.

Of course, my company didn’t take off right away. I had to be diligent and determined to not give up. There were days I felt like it would never work, but then I regained my strength by telling myself who I was and where I wanted to be. I practiced a positive mindset. It takes time to build a brand, but as we all must know, the key to marketing is consistency. Currently, Blue Lotus has more than tripled sales the past 3 months to where I was able to quit my side hustle and run my company full-time. Every day is a new challenge, but that’s what makes it exciting! My advice to anyone who wants to start a business is to understand how money works. Money is a tool. Money needs a job, not you. Learn to invest it in the right places, network, build a support team, motivate yourself, and you will be successful.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The greatest struggle I faced was myself. Doubt, fear, and lack of patience had gotten the best of me at times. I knew I needed to change not only myself but my environment. I joined networking groups and carefully selected those who would only be beneficial for my growth. These are the types of people who praised my success AND my failures because they taught me, they are lessons and essential for your journey to success. I couldn’t only depend on my awesome support group, I needed to be able to depend on myself. I practiced self-motivation and doing things that make me happy to ease the stress like enjoying nature walks, working out, maintaining a healthy diet, and giving myself self-reflection sessions. All of these practices gave me the feeling of value and motivation to transfer that positive energy into Blue Lotus Graphics for successful growth.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Blue Lotus Graphics is not just your average print shop. The company was started to educate business owners about the importance of marketing and how to invest their money wisely to increase their ROI. We combine innovative designs with proven business strategies to bring companies the best results in growing their brand and attracting the right clients.

Any big plans?
