Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Lou.
Lindsey, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My passion for the hair industry started in the very early stages of my life. My dolls that I played with were my first clients. One year after graduating from Lithonia High School, I attended community college in Clarkston where I obtained and completed the cosmetology program. After graduation, I would wait tables and sling drinks at night and worked on my craft during the day. For a short time, I worked under senior stylists as an assistant to learn as much as I possibly could. After years of putting the serving and bartending before my business, I decided to quit and pursue cosmetology full time. After working at two salon suites, three hair salons, and temporarily going back to the serving industry to fund my dreams, I decided to open up a salon of my own. Haircrush Studio has been open and running for almost four years. I have a hair product line featuring my two top sellers, Haircrush Hair Growth Oil and #HEATWAVE Hair Protector. This is just the beginning of my journey as I am looking forward to working with those in the movie industry. I also hope to open up an even bigger salon in the near future, This is not the end for Lindsey Lou……only the beginning.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There have been smooth moments, but I can honestly say there have been way more obstacles. I got through each and every one of them and the struggles are what makes me a better businesswoman. So I’m extremely thankful.
Somethings I have experienced is lack of funds, depression, complete exhaustion, and the feeling of not being enough. I felt alone a lot while growing my business, but now I am surrounded by so many great people and successful business owners. I have people that I can relate to. The support is real. I’m blessed to have them.
Haircrush – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a hairstylist. I provide a lot of services like weaving and hair coloring, but I specialize in natural hair and hair care. I’m most known for my silk presses. My clients love my silk presses and I love doing them. What sets me apart is my pure love and passion for my client’s hair. Hair growth and the integrity of my client’s REAL HAIR is priority. I am most proud of the results my clients get by coming to me. To see repeat clientele confirms that I am doing it right. When my clients are happy, I am too.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is a peace of mind and being able to take care of my mother (whether she needs me or not). I just do what I love and the money and success follows me….Levels of success changes for me every time I reach a new goal. My definition of success changes as I get better, as I learn more, as my business grows, it just changes.
