Meet Lithonia Makeup Artist: Sherrian Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherrian Brown.

Sherrian, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been a professional makeup artist for about five years now. Before getting into the beauty industry I was in the food industry as a caterer and specialty cake decorator. After I got burnt out with doing food for 15 years I decided to take classes in makeup artistry. Fell in love with the profession and making women happy about being beautiful and confident. I started my first makeup job in the mall working at a kiosk selling product and doing brows. I moved on to a local salon and then a makeup studio. I found myself bored and thought the beat move for me was to be a freelance makeup artist. This gave me the freedom to focus on makeup for photography, fashion shows, and specialty events. This also gave me the opportunity to be published in several magazines such as The Limitless Look, Elements, Inspire, and GEI. I then wanted to expand my education and went to Las Vegas for Buntricia Bastian’s Hands-on Makeup Conference. This gave me the education to be an instructor. This is when I decide to start my own makeup classes called The Beat In Your Bag Makeup Conference. This class I designed to educate the everyday woman to apply her own makeup on a daily basis.

Tell us about your childhood, what were you like growing up?
I have always been a creative person. Always loved to draw, cook, dance, sing, and write poetry. I was loud and bright (still am) and was constantly the leader of the pack. Defended the underdog and loved making new friends. Never shy.

What is your favorite childhood memory?
Saturday breakfast at Shoney’s with my grandmother and her friends. I loved listening to adult conversations, loved going anywhere with my grandmother, and loved the all you can breakfast bar at Shoney’s.

What are your plans for the future?
I am looking forward to the 2nd edition of The Beat In Your Bag Makeup Workshop where I will be teaching the everyday woman to achieve a simple full face makeup application. I am also planning a class totally centered around achieving the perfect brow.
