Today we’d like to introduce you to Maliyah Mayfield.
Maliyah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Gurl 2 Girl is founded by Maliyah Mayfield and was launched in Spring 2019. The idea came from a conversation with friends and the need for more spaces for entrepreneurial women. The group is built to motivate and encourage influential women to make the most out of their career through collaborating with like-minded individuals. Even though we are currently based in Atlanta, we work with women online and in real life (URL 2 IRL). We have had many successful events in Atlanta so far, and plan to launch the group in New York by the end of the year. We encourage all women to join the sisterhood.
Has it been a smooth road?
There are always challenges and roadblocks when launching a new business and working with different people. The main challenge that we face is working on a budget. But, because we have so many hard-working women on our team, we always overcome the challenge and beat goals.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Gurl 2 Girl Networking Group story. Tell us more about it.
Gurl 2 Girl is an empowering, loving, and successful group of entrepreneurial women. We encourage our ladies to be active in their field, use our environment to network and collaborate on creative projects, and to gain a greater sense of self-love and confidence when stepping into their work field. We host monthly meetings that include vision boarding, sharing personal goals, collaborating with creative women, the opportunity to attend panel talks, and much more. We also exercise our entrepreneurial skills during monthly Gurl 2 Girl Pop-Ups.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next 5-10 years, I see there being more women-owned businesses and women in power. It is amazing to see women all around the world launching businesses that they are passionate about. Creative freedom is so important!
