Meet Marvin Stammel of Zero to 60 Media in Sandy Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marvin Stammel.

Marvin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my career in the music industry. I worked for a large Hip Hip/Rap label all the way through college. I started as an intern and ended up in marketing and A&R. I left my home town Cologne, Germany, when I was 21 because of a job offer at a Reggae label in NYC. I did that for about a year until I realized that working for a record label just wasn’t the same if I didn’t truly enjoy the music I’m promoting. In the meantime, I started a Facebook page called Flex, Rocks & Rollovers – dedicated to my true passion, and that has always been Off-Roading/Rock Crawling & Jeeps. That page grew pretty rapidly to 20,000 followers within a short period of time. That’s where I made the call that I want to start my own business in the off-road industry.

My father, who moved from Germany to the USA 10+ years before me, was also tired of his advertising agency and wanted to start something new. So we got together and founded an off-road Apparel & Gear brand called AXEL Off-Road. I moved from NYC to Atlanta, GA and made it my new career and used Flex, Rocks & Rollovers to push that brand forward. We built an army of ambassadors (before it was a thing), sponsored racers & got heavily involved in off-road racing to a point where we were the most visible brand at race series like the Southern Rock Racing Series, Mega Truck Series, Dirt Riot & W.E. Rock. We traveled all across the country and even internationally and promote the brand, sold products & supported racing. We mainly sold through our e-commerce, a retailer network, and at events.

During those years, we attended a lot of events, races & trade shows & realized that there was no “hub” for the off-road industry on the East Coast. As I was continuing with AXEL Off-Road – my father started looking into what it would take to create a large B2B and B2C trade show for anything Off-Road related. In 2014 we had our first Unlimited Off-Road Show in Louisville, KY. Within three years it grew to over 15,000 spectators on a single weekend. That was the point where we sold parts of AXEL Off-Road to a distribution partner so they can take care of day to day business, and we only work the backend of things. Throughout the years, I had many requests from companies that were exhibiting with us about marketing help. Basically “do what you did for Unlimited Off-Road Show for our business”.

In 2015 I created a little side business called “Zero to 60 Media” – My marketing agency! Catering marketing work & industry knowledge to the off-road & automotive industry. I built a team of highly skilled graphic & web designers as well as video producers around myself and together we managed it to grow this company over the years to what it is today working for companies like Caffeine & Octane (America’s largest monthly car show), BFGoodrich Tires & off-road shops & manufacturers.

I left the Unlimited Off-Road Show Team/Family business to be able to focus on my own business more and also re-activate and built out the “brand” that started it all – Flex, Rocks & Rollovers. Flex, Rocks & Rollovers is now a 160,000 followers strong off-road lifestyle brand that focuses on extreme off-road events – creating authentic, highly professional content enhanced with influencer marketing. All events are being captured by professional media teams as well as the participating influencers & enthusiasts. The impact of our online marketing promotion for our event “24 Hell & Back Challenge” has been incredible and reached over 2.1 million people last year. We are rolling out a number of high impacts, high engagement, enthusiast and multiplier events this year. 100% Off-Road. 100% Authentic. 100% Viral.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. It’s a constant battle and a hard, rocky road. But luckily, we all do what we love, and rocks are our territory!
