Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Eppers.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Melissa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started doing hair 16 years ago and very quickly realized I needed to work for myself so after just three years in I began as a booth renter. So, 13 years of being self-employed. I opened a large location in Woodstock, debt-free in 2011 when I was just 29. After over four years in that location I sold it in 2015 and moved to a luxury, private studio in Marietta. I have an amazing, long time clientele and I also, work as a social media influencer and content creator for several companies. I am also sponsored by leading hair companies and get the opportunity to travel and do platform artist work for them.
Has it been a smooth road?
I think my biggest struggle has always been to figure out where I belong in my industry. Since I am not traditional hairstylist and more of an artist. I had to change my mindset and create my own space. And if something isn’t working to not be afraid to change it.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I think I have a true artist’s perspective and I actually care about people and the work I do.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, I think it is a great place. If you have the drive and motivation, you can definitely succeed.
