Meet Milas King of Davincis Pizza in Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Milas King.

Milas, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all started with two credit cards and some used equipment. It was 2006, I literally “rented” 2 of my fathers credits cards at $100 per month until I returned them balance free. We were practically running the business day to day, buying what we needed for the next day from the current days sales.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No way has it been a smooth road. We’ve had to endure lawsuits, fights with the city that ended in a settlement, and the abandonment of one of our partners. That’s just the highlights.

Davincis Pizza – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a local Pizzeria. We are different because we make everything from scratch in the morning. The same ground beef on our pizza is the same beef from the grocery store. Our cheese “IS” whole mozzarella, not “made from” or “made with”. We see ourselves as a social canvas that our customers paint their experiences on. For example, no one cared particularly about Blockbuster video, but look at the memories we all had around it. That’s what endeared that company to each of us. The Friday nights, date nights, etc. all centered around their product; movie rentals. You think of Blockbuster you don’t think selection or customer service, lol. But you won’t forget it either.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as being able to provide for yourself on your terms; not how much money or social status you have.
