Meet Mireille Beckwith of City Peach in Cumming

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mireille Beckwith.

Mireille, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have loved fashion and creating outfits for as long as I can remember. I remember cutting, sewing, and literally taping outfits that I would make for my barbies. I had always worked retail to be around clothes and would jump at the chance to style windows or anything in the store. After college, I moved to NYC where I worked for Anthropologie and eventually worked my way up to style for them. This was the beginning of my career as it shaped how I thought about clothes and creating whether it was for myself or for others. When I moved back to Atlanta, I took a software sales job while I figured out my life, and while there, basically started my blog. I had just met my husband, we had a whirlwind courtship, got pregnant, married, and had our first baby. I was a new mom and needed to feel like myself again while hoping to inspire others. I knew I had to start something of my own and this basically let me have anonymity while I grew it (i.e., I was blogging in the corners of the office and then again from 11 pm to 3 am). I hustled for years and blogged while navigating motherhood. I would write, plan photo shoots, attend events, and connect with my local audience. There was a point when my kids were 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 where I couldn’t juggle both full-time anymore and I decided to take the blog full-time and the kids went to school. Since then, this has become my day and night job and everything in between. I am also the stylist for the America’s Mart runway shows held quarterly and have personal styling clients. I love inspiring women to live a stylish life through whatever season or phase of life they are in. I hope to encourage through my story and photos that I create, to try things outside your creative comfort zone when it comes to fashion, and that anything is possible if you want it bad enough.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Not at all, but anything worth creating requires work. I have blogged at all hours of the night, sometimes while nursing a newborn, had breakdowns from too much workload, and navigated the space while knowing nothing of how it works. I have planned photo shoots or tried to get the brand shot I’ve needed while dealing with toddler tantrums. I started from nothing because I knew I had to live out my dream. In the beginning, friends and acquaintances didn’t really want to listen and I remember seeing a few people I knew unfollow me. I blogged for free while just wanting to share my outfits, to getting so excited about my first partnership. Every milestone is celebrated because I remember in the beginning just wanting it to be a success so badly. All I ever wanted to do was show people how to create art with clothes, and somehow have a platform to do it. Growing a following is difficult as platforms and technology changes, as well as growing a following that trusts you to speak to them. Numbers grow and drop, but I had to remember to just stay in my lane and do what I love.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about City Peach – what should we know?
I share a styled life through photos that tell a story through my blog and social media. I am known for being real through my ig stories and captions but love creating editorial style photos. I am most proud of building the brand from just a passionate idea. My genuine love for fashion sets me apart from others in my field as I try to incorporate that into my content in a way that is creative and can inspire someone. I will always stay true to who I am whether it’s my taste in clothes, my voice, and how I speak to my audience. My job as a stylist for the Mart runway is my most prized project and I love incorporating that into the experience that I bring my audience along for.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My husband has been my biggest supporter. He was always game for an idea that I had and just let me run with it. He took all my photos in the beginning, would stay up all hours of the night with me to edit photos, or just reassure me when I was discouraged. He talks me off ledges and has never let me quit. He will take over in dad mode any time I have an important brand building engagement away from the house.
