Meet Modupé Congleton of Finally Free Brands

Today we’d like to introduce you to Modupé Congleton.

Hi Modupé, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story is rooted in a quest for true freedom. For over two decades, I thrived in corporate spaces, leading global equity and inclusion strategies and advocating for people to bring their full selves to work. But even in positions of influence, I often found myself navigating environments that didn’t fully see or celebrate my authenticity. That disconnect led me to ask: What does it mean to be free?

That question sparked the birth of Finally Free Brands, a lifestyle and wellness brand that bridges fashion, purpose, and personal liberation. Through keynote speaking, consulting, and a bold new fashion line, I now help others reclaim their power in how they work, how they live, and how they show up. This brand is my love letter to everyone who has ever been told to shrink or cover. I’m here to remind them that freedom isn’t just an idea. It’s something you wear. It’s something you live.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey has not been smooth, but it has been transformational. One of the hardest parts was stepping away from a successful corporate career and the identity that came with it. I had built a name, a network, and a rhythm in a world where I knew the rules. Leaving that comfort to pursue something uncomfortable meant confronting fear, financial uncertainty, and self-doubt. However, I also discovered my voice, one not shaped by a title or organization, but by conviction and clarity. There were moments when the vision felt bigger than the resources or the roadmap, but the obstacles pushed me to create something real. Every time I’ve shown up as my authentic self, especially when it was hard, the right doors opened.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Finally Free Brands is a movement that exists at the intersection of style, strategy, and self-worth. Founded on the belief that true freedom forms the foundation of both personal style and professional success, the brand aims to help people show up fully, from the boardroom to the block. We are redefining what it means to lead and live authentically. Each piece and offering is created to ensure people feel chic, stylish, and comfortable on their terms.

What sets Finally Free Brands apart is that it’s rooted in both inclusion and acceptance. I’ve walked the halls of global companies and stood on stages around the world, advocating for equity, respect, and empowerment. Now I’m designing clothing and experiences that speak the same language. I’m most proud of how the brand is evolving. It holds space for both softness and power, style and substance. Whether you’re stepping in front of the camera or moving through your day, freedom should always fit, and with Finally Free Brands, it finally does. I am proud of building a brand that is getting visibility in Africa, South America and of course, the United States. You can shop us on our website, Meta Platforms and Tik Tok.

How do you think about luck?
I believe that faith, not luck, is what transforms lives. Walking by faith is the first step, and trusting the rhythm of your journey and knowing that God has a plan for you. I’ve had what some might call “Oh My Goodness” moments, but it was my faith and belief in myself that continues to create opportunities. So while I honor the role of timing and grace, I give most credit to faith, vision, and the courage to stay the course.
