Meet Mona Sanders of A Little Taste of Heaven in Douglasville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mona Sanders.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a native of Berkeley, California. I began baking as a child with my mother and truly enjoyed the taste and smell of sweets. It was from those memories that I sparked an interest in baking and began teaching myself how to bake cookies and cakes. After retirement from the state of California in 2017, my husband and I decided to leave our home state and move to Georgia in May of 2018. While I baked in California for my friends and family, I didn’t do it as frequent mainly around the holidays. After getting settled into my new home, I decided to fully pursue my passion for baking to the founding of A Little Taste of Heaven. With over 40 years of baking experience, I am pleased to serve the residents of Douglasville and metro Atlanta with gourmet cookies, cakes, and additional sweets. I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to now follow my dream as a retired mother and grandmother. I truly encourage others to also take that leap of faith and do whatever they’ve been called to do, no matter their age or where you are after your career.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been a smooth road the majority of the way because I have always had God as my tour guide. The only bumps in the road I have experienced is getting acquainted with living in a new state and learning the ropes as a new business owner.

Please tell us about A Little Taste of Heaven.
It is our homemade desserts that truly taste like heaven. Our Gourmet Cookies, Gourmet Cakes, and additional sweets!

We specialize in gourmet baked goods that taste just like your grandmother’s. Cookies, Cakes, Cupcakes, Cobblers, Bread Puddings, Cheesecakes, Chocolate covered strawberries infused with alcohol or without and more.

I am most proud of being able to rekindle the memories of other people’s childhood with the taste of my desserts.

What sets me apart from others is the love and passion that I put into each dessert. The quality and freshness of the ingredients along with the time I spend on each one of my desserts.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have taken more classes before starting my business however, I do believe in continuous education. I also wish I would not have waited to retire to begin my business.
