Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Mone’.

Monica, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Hello, everyone, my name is Monica Mone’ I am an actress, singer, writer and owner of Pretty Girl Collections By Monica Mone. I moved to Georgia from Florida 5 years ago and it was truly the best decision of my life. I started at Ellis Wester State Farm’s office when I first moved here. I worked there for about 2 1/2 years. I wanted to be an actress and get into the film industry but wasn’t sure how I was going to do it at the time. I researched some agencies met with a few, but I wasn’t feeling any of the ones I met with. I remember praying for guidance and God finally answered my prayers and I was blessed with the opportunity intern for George Pierre’s casting company Pierre Casting. He took me under his wing and became my mentor. He taught me the business. At that time, his assistant was January Curry and I worked a lot with her. She decided to branch off and start her own extras casting company Destination Casting, and I joined her as her casting assistant. While working for her managing my acting career, I decided to start my press on a nail line called Pretty Girl Collections By Monica Mone. Pretty Girl is a business that I always wanted. It had been on my mind and heart for about ten years. I finally just took a leap of faith and started last year, I officially launched it December 1, 2019. I have created many lanes for myself and I believe nothing is off limits to me. I have planted the seeds and I am looking forward to watching it all grow!

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a struggle since I have been chasing my dreams. I have experienced things that I never experienced before. There have been failures, disappointments and the word NO a lot. So far, I haven’t let those things stop me. I have given up and sacrificed a lot to be where I am today. I am blessed to say through all of that I am a stronger person for it. I appreciate the struggle because so much good has come out of it, and so much more is going to come.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Pretty Girl Collections is custom made press on nail line right now. I have press on toes. Pretty Girl is going to be a collective of things, right now I do press on’s, but I will be adding more things to the brand. My vision for Pretty Girl is so grand. I want to have my gel polish eventually, lip kits, make up. I am building a beauty empire. I am most proud of the fact that I started the business; it is hard to take steps to get things in motion. You start to have doubts at times and it takes a lot of hard work to make it successful. I am constantly looking for inspiration for designs trying to make sure I stay current with the new trends. When I look at the designs that I have come up with, it amazes me every time. The feedback that I have been receiving from people has been so great and it’s even more confirmation that I am doing exactly what I should be doing.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel like I am in the perfect place for my business. By being in the film industry and being an actress myself press on are great to have. There have been times where I would get my nails done, and then I book a role and would have to either cut them down or take all my designs off. I pretty much just wasted money. With the press on’s they are easy to put on and easy to take off. More and more productions are being shot here and there are plenty of actresses that wear press on’s because they are so convenient. I would tell anyone who wanted to start their line that Georgia is the place to be!
