Meet Naomi Rose

Today we’d like to introduce you to Naomi Rose.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Naomi. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started doing YouTube in 2017, with no intention other than to let my creative side flow. I was in college and although I was involved in tons of extracurricular activities on campus, I still had free time on my hands and tons of ideas in my head that I just wanted to release and share with others. Something told me to just start a YouTube channel. so that’s what I did. I was balancing school, work, and YouTube and enjoying the whole lifestyle. Soon enough, I started making a little money from YouTube and then shifted into collaborating with different brands through digital content and events. Fast forward to 2018, I graduated from college with my associate’s degree in Film Production and continued working in the costumes department of film sets, such as Thor Ragnarok, The Gifted, Star, etc. So ever since then, my life has been wrapped around beauty, fashion, hair, and now, proudly, motherhood. I gave birth to my son in October of 2019 and it added such a joy to my life. I couldn’t have picked a better addition for myself and my brand.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been challenges and struggles that I’ve faced along my journey. I honestly still come across challenges on the way. I try to be optimistic about things because I know that this is the lifestyle that I want and deep down I know that nothing worth having comes easy. One of the challenges of being a freelance worker is that there isn’t always a job opportunity. For example, when you’re new to something, which at one point I was, there weren’t always gigs to work on set when I needed to or a brand that was willing to work with me. Another challenge for me has been finding a balance between sharing personal aspects of my life with the world and protecting my personal space. These challenges are only making me expand my resources and mindset so I don’t mind them!

Please tell us about your work.
All of my content centers around hair, beauty, fashion and motherhood. Anything that I have a passion for, I share it with the world, and nowadays, social media is the most beneficial way to do that. Over the years, I’ve gotten so many comments and messages from my supporters mentioning how one of my videos has helped them in a way or how I’ve impacted their lives to some extent. That is what I’m most proud about. There’s no better feeling than knowing that people appreciate what I’m sharing with the world. I feel like what sets me apart from others is that I share the good and the bad. I find light in a bad situation and I love it when my story can transfer to a positive outcome. Everything about my brand is authentic and transparent. That’s what I love the most.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you were just starting?
The one thing I would do differently if I had to start over is to not hesitate so much and just do it. I realized that when I first began my social media presence, I was so hard on myself that I second guessed my content and my talents. I remember I recorded my first YouTube video and never even posted it! I ended up making a different video and posting that later on down the road. Looking back on things, I could have been blocking blessings and opportunities. That could have been the video that helped build my audience. Since I was overthinking everything, I eventually saw myself falling into the social media trap of painting the “perfect picture”. With a mindset like this, I feel like it slowed down my process so I’m glad I began to just be myself and be free. I was way happier that way.
