Meet Northeast Makeup Artist: Jos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jos.

Jos, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started doing makeup at a young age. I used to play in my mom’s all the time and get in so much trouble. But once I got older, I started working in modeling troupes in high school and college just learning and getting better. And after I graduated, I moved me and my passion to Atlanta to better chase my dreams.

Has it been a smooth road?
Nothing’s ever smooth. But it’s worth it. So you gotta just push through it. You come out a different you- a better version of you.

What’s your outlook for the industry over the next 5-10 years?
I think the beauty industry is ever changing and innovative. We set the trends. Beauty is life. In 5-10, it’s going places. Where? No predictions possible. People are filling in eyebrows with individual lashes. There’s no way I could have predicted that!

What has been the primary challenge you’ve faced?
Biggest challenge over the years has always been fear. Fear of change. Fear of failure. Fear of any and everything. If you can move past that, you can accomplish all your goals.

Let’s change gears – is there any advice you’d like to give?
Put yourself out there. Go everywhere and be everywhere. Opportunity is what you make it.
