Meet Olivia Arendt of Scotia Salon & Boutique in Marietta, East Cobb

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Arendt.

Olivia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m originally from Scotland. I moved here in 2001. I’ve been doing hair since I was 15 years old, so I’ve been at it a long time now. I love my job. I love being able to change how people see themselves. About 2 years ago, I fell into Instagram and it’s really opened up a whole new world for me. I get to learn from so many people all over the world and it’s right at my fingertips. I love the exposure to new clients that I ordinarily may never have reached, also.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’ve definitely struggled at times. I had a great clientele in Scotland and I moved here and didn’t have a single client. I had to start completely over. It was very different here compared to what I was used to.
Luckily, I’ve managed to grow a big clientele that sticks with me through pretty much every adventure I’ve had here. I think because I haven’t moved locations very much that really helps to get a good base.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Scotia salon & Boutique – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Scotia is about being comfortable. From the decor to the neighboring stylist popping in to see what new stuff I’m doing. I think my clients like that I’m up to date with techniques and different products, etc.
I love doing vivid colors and blonding of all types.

What sets me apart? Probably, my training. I am always learning new things. I love education. I also am always looking for the best products to use for everything from coloring to styling. I recently won a competition for the best balayage, so that was pretty exciting for me.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Well, I’ve just moved into a bigger studio so I need to finish getting it the way I’m envisioning it. I’d love to start hosting classes there and eventually start teaching again. I also want to work more on my photography and enter some more competitions.
