Meet Oluwatosin Gbadamosi of TosinShotIt in Baltimore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Oluwatosin Gbadamosi.

Oluwatosin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In high school, I started taking pictures on my iPhone for my friends and honestly, whoever asked. Eventually, people began to pay me and one day. My older brother decided to take a chance on me and purchase my first camera my 1st year of college. I continued to take pictures and then I posted “Boys In The Water” on Instagram and Twitter and the love I received from that shoot showed me that I was really onto something. While dropping more photos from more shoots, I began to doubt myself but the positive feedback I received encouraged me to keep going. I realized that with hard work and dedication, I could honestly accomplish anything I set my mind to. The truth is that it’s only been two years and I haven’t even reached the height of my potential yet.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road to where I am right now has not been the smoothest. No one ever said investing in yourself was easy. There was actually a point in my career when I was only doing four shoots a month and all of those funds went to clear my debt. That was honestly when I began to doubt if this was really the path I wanted to go down but I never doubted my artistic ability. Fortunately, whenever those thoughts started to come into my mind, people that I didn’t even know would begin to encourage and speak life into me.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’m an artist but I have chosen to focus on photography. I often find myself doing graduation and birthday shoots, event photography, and conceptual photography. I take pride in my conceptual shoots, especially because each of those shoots is a reflection of parts of my life. I believe that’s why I am more known for these shoots. I believe that in certain ways, people find a way to relate to what they see.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The truth is, I honestly don’t pay too much attention to what is happening in the industry. I believe in setting the trend and not being swayed by what is happening mainstream. I know that in the years to come, I will be among the leaders in this industry.
