Meet Patrick Walker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Walker.

Patrick, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I began my acting journey in August 2011. I had just moved to Atlanta from Jacksonville, Florida and was looking into starting college. I didn’t know anything about acting or the acting scene in Atlanta, I just knew that it was a bigger city and a better opportunity to rediscover something I had a passion for at a young age. I started taking classes at Premier Actors Network with Dwayne Boyd and my journey has been uphill ever since. With bumps in the road of course. I can honestly say that I got where I am today by pure hard work. I am a firm believer that we all are equal because we have the same 24 hours and with that 24 hours, determines your level of greatness, so ever since then, I’ve made it my goal to work on my craft every single day. I booked my first role on the NBC Show Constantine back in 2014 and with GOD and the help of agents and management I have acquired over 20 film and television credits with most recently my biggest role of the character “Micah” on Fox’s hit show “The Resident.”

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely wasn’t the smoothest road but with the challenges, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m sure the challenges are very interchangeable in the lives of most artists. The lack of money, hard time finding flexible jobs, trying to get money to travel to other cities for auditions, the lack of opportunities, my life became my art because of all the sacrifices I had to make. In all that, I realized that I could alter most of my challenges by creating my own content. Granted, I definitely was shooting to get on big shows, but I found that instead of going crazy waiting on my agents to call to tell me whether I booked the role or not I just begin giving my self-work. It kept me occupied in the meantime, and it’s always great to get a call that you booked a job while working on your own projects because you always have something to come back to. I won the Academy Awards “Team Oscar” competition back in 2015 and it opened a lot of doors for me, and that was all triggered by my drive to create; and then, gave me the motivation to create more.

Actor – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m an actor and what I’m most known for would be my roles as “Micah” in ‘The Resident’ on Fox, and “Alphonse” in the show ‘Power’ on Starz. I believe with sets me apart as an actor would be my choices on the screen. That’s a huge part of the craft and why we are attracted to our favorites, because of the unique character choices that they make on screen no matter what movie they’re in. I will always go to watch Denzel Washington’s films because I am intrigued by what he will do next.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment in my career thus far would be my recognition at the Academy Awards in 2015. It was a career and life-altering experience. I got the opportunity to meet some of my heroes in the business as well as get a personal look at the event that every actor wants to attend at some point in their career. I say career altering because it opened up doors of opportunity, and life-altering because it changed my focus as an actor. I was no longer interested or invested in solely obtaining the award, but only doing the best and most honest work that I possibly could do to for lack of better terms change the world with my art.
