Meet Rachael Alexandra of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachael Alexandra.

Hi Rachael, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started at the beginning of 2019. Modeling was not on my radar before then. It took a lot of encouragement from an past friend to do my first photoshoot. Thankfully, I went through with it, but I’ve had my trials. I started out on the wrong side of the industry. I thought the best way in would be with boudoir and nude work. It wasn’t. But I did learn a lot about what not to do!
Around 2021, everything flipped. I began growing in all the ways I needed to. Fell in love with fashion, beauty, and editorial work. Got connected with brands, agencies, did my fair share of runways, I really just did any and everything presented to me.
Flash forward to now, I am a bit more picky with what I involve myself in. Not every project is worth your time. It is absolutely okay and beneficial to say no. That’s partly how I got where I am today…by being selective. But most importantly, by putting my support with the right people who have always given it right back. Who you surround yourself with will make or break you.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road but it’d be quite boring if it was! I’ve struggled with several things. Insecurities, finances, mental blocks. There have been some major health issues I have had to heal from that set me back. I spent a few months homeless and taking showers in 32• water. And I still got myself out there and worked. Because I love it and it helped me get through the days. It’s taken a lot of time, practice, and effort to be in the state that I’m currently in. I know there will be more obstacles to overcome, but I’m pretty resilient so I say bring it on.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I model and am slowly putting my artwork into the world as well. Editorial, fashion, and beauty are my specialties. Though I’m trying to get myself out there for more commercial work. I’d love to expand my skills and further my opportunities. There’s so much out there! Which is why I’m also getting more into my paintings. I feel like I’m letting my creativity flow in multiple forms.
I’m proud of the fact that I’m still going. There’s been several times I’ve wanted to quit. Delete my socials, throw out the heels, trash my brushes, abandon my dreams. Once I’m in front of the camera, or sitting in front of my easel, all those thoughts disappear. Every time. Like I was made for this. I know it sounds like I’m full of myself or something, but I truly don’t even try. It comes so easy to me. The movement, the expressions, the art. I just let it consume me.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risk is necessary for growth. If you aren’t trying new things, asking questions, or exploring, you’re holding yourself back. You can’t create something by sitting still. Nothing will change if you do the same things over and over and over. I had to learn to trust myself before I started taking risks. But that’s how things are discovered and made. That’s how you figure out what you like and what you’re good at. And it’s fun if you let it be!
