Meet Randall Fox of Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces in Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Randall Fox.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am the head of Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces, which was founded in 2005.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the biggest challenges we face as a company is trying to find artists that are exciting and relevant. While there is no shortage of fantastic art, we have 12 events a year and need to keep our guests engaged. Especially in a city like Atlanta where there is a festival almost every week of the year, we have to know who we are playing to. Each in their own way need to be reflective of the community- be that through the art, restaurants and food trucks we invite in or music playing on the stage.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces – what should we know?
The Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces, LLC was established in 2005 to support the arts community by operating arts and craft events and festivals in the metro Atlanta, Georgia area. AFFPS was formed to create a way of integrating and encouraging both social interactions and the opportunity for individuals and businesses to obtain cross exposures in marketplaces that they may normally not have. Our festivals, events and markets enjoy diverse social and economic participants. All events are professionally managed and maintained to create a “destination” in which both public and private opportunities for economic growth can be explored. AFFPS works in partnership with the communities and cities in the metro Atlanta area to expand public access to art.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I choose to surround myself with great people, who are at the forefront of what they do. It makes work more enjoyable, when you know you are working with people who are passionate about what they do. Art is such a passionate vehicle, so it requires that.
