Today we’d like to introduce you to RavenMonya.

Please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a Singer/Songwriter/ from Atlanta, Georgia. I consider myself a new creative. I have developed my unique sound through my arts, music and fashion. It is actually a funny story how I started doing music. I have been around music my whole life because my dad does music, he is a producer, songwriter, an artist, and an entrepreneur as well. My dad would be in the next room writing, rapping, and making beats. I would be like omg if he don’t gone somewhere with all that, which is crazy now who would have known that I would follow in his footsteps and love to do music. At the time I was thirteen I believe and my dad was making a beat and I fell in love with it. It was actually my first song and my little brother and little sister were on the song with me it was called twinkle twinkle I’m a star. I have always loved music and to sing – I just never saw myself before that very moment pursuing music. So that is how it all basically started. I finally started taking my music craft seriously in the year 2016. I started recording my songs out my house in my dad studio. My parents enrolled me in an artist development program. I started getting vocal lessons and training my ear to the piano. I even started writing my own songs.

Later that year I went off to college but while there I was coming back every weekend to get in the studio. I grew a bond with my vocal coach Kevin Bryant and one of my producers at the time Brandon Phillips Taylor. At Albany State University it wasn’t a day or time that I wasn’t writing new music. I barely went out in college because I was so invested in my music and always trying to write and get the song to sound amazing. I’m in my dorm room I either have my headphones on or my speaker blasting playing beats while I’m writing or performing in the mirror. My 2018 New Years resolution was to grow in all aspects and find myself. I ended up getting back in contact with some of my high school buddies who does music. GBF Scoot is an amazing artist and a dope engineer who welcomed me into his studio with open arms. GBF Scoot, Fre$hatl, King $Wift, JB, and Mufasa all are extremely talented artists who have played a role in helping me to find my sound and pushing me to go harder.

Ever since January of 2018, I have been in the studio nonstop recording. My goal for 2019 was to brand myself more and I did just that. I dropped my first seven track ep titled Love And Evol on all Streaming Platforms in February. In March i dropped a visual for my single Shining Star featuring GBF Scoot which was to bring awareness to bullying and suicide. I dropped another visual for my new single On My Level Featuring QuiMaylee. I did my first performance this year in March for a sweet sixteen and have been doing shows ever since. Stay tuned to see what’s in store for the remainder of 2019.

You’re fortunate to have had such great exposure to music at such a young age.  We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
On my journey to fulfill my purpose in life it has not always been a smooth road; I have had a few bumps along the way. The year of 2016 really opened my eyes as to how the music business is. One thing I learned is that if you want to make it in this industry you have to have thick skin. I have had people who have ripped me off and gave me false promises. I have had a lot of no’s but I did not let that stop me. I continued to grind with my music, remain humble, and praise God daily. It is because of my parent’s love that I have made it this far with music and of course God. My parents give me the courage, love, support, and strength to continue going hard and pursuing my dreams with music.

Having a strong support system is definitely a blessing. We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
As of right now I am currently working on finishing up my mixtape. I have yet to set a date ; however I do have the tape name which is  titled “All Or Nothing”. I decided to name my new project all or nothing, because that is the chapter I am in currently in my life. With this project I am giving my everything from the beats, to the lyrics, to the cover, to the visuals, and photoshoots. My biggest thing I just hope everyone rocks with it and can relate to the tracks that I am putting on this tape and really get a taste of my style and who I am through my music. I also have some dope visuals dropping soon ; so be on the lookout for those. I am dropping a single as well called “In My Bag”. Really right now I’m just doing performances and in the studio finishing up my project.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up some would say I was very timid, shy, and quiet if they did not really know me. In all honesty though I am this down to earth , bubbly , funny , friendly , and loving person. I am very outgoing and determined once I set my mind to do something in life. I keep a very positive attitude and outlook on things in life, even when it seems like everything is going downhill. Over the years, those around me have been amazed in how much I have come out my shell. It is like I have this burst of all time confidence in myself ever since I have finally found myself and where my calling is in this world.
