Meet Ricky Desai of Limelight Link

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ricky Desai.

Hi Ricky, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Limelight Link was born from a very personal experience. In 2019, my father-in-law, Andy, was paralyzed after a traumatic accident. Almost immediately, our family was thrown into a world we weren’t prepared for, and one of the most frustrating challenges was simply getting him where he needed to go. Transportation was unreliable, inefficient, and at times unsafe. For someone already navigating such a life-altering change, that was unacceptable.

That experience opened our eyes to a real gap in our community. People with disabilities and mobility challenges deserve better, and we knew we could do something about it.

So my wife, Reeva, and I founded Limelight Link with a clear mission: to bridge the NEMT gap in the greater Atlanta area. I spent over a decade in the airline industry, where I sharpened my skills in revenue strategy and management, as well as sales analytics. Reeva holds a Healthcare MBA. Together, we made the decision to take the hardest moment of our family’s life and turn it into something meaningful.

At Limelight Link, we offer timely transportation with minimal wait times, and our vehicles are top of the line, fully equipped for wheelchair, stretcher, and bariatric stretcher transport. But beyond the logistics, what truly drives us is our why. We want every single customer to feel cared for and honored. We ask ourselves: how would Andy want to be treated? That is the standard we hold ourselves to every day.

We are a husband-and-wife, minority-owned small business right here in Atlanta, and we are incredibly proud to serve this community.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been easy. Building a company from the ground up requires an enormous amount of work across every dimension. We had to develop our branding and marketing, learn the ins and outs of an entirely new industry, source and outfit our vehicles to accommodate the different types of customers we serve, and ensure everything met the necessary safety regulations. On top of that, we had to recruit and train the right team.

Our biggest challenge in the early days was visibility. The demand for quality NEMT services is absolutely there, but not many people knew who we were. We had to earn our reputation, and in this industry, so much of the business is driven by word of mouth. That means every single ride matters and every interaction counts.

I am proud to say that the hard work has paid off. We have earned a genuine five-star rating on Google from real customers, and our reputation has opened doors we could not have imagined when we first launched. It has allowed us to establish partnerships with several facilities in and around the Atlanta area to serve their residents directly. Our work speaks for itself, and that means everything to us.

We’ve been impressed with Limelight Link, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Limelight Link is a non-emergency medical transportation company serving the greater Atlanta area. We specialize in providing safe, reliable, and dignified transportation for individuals with disabilities and mobility challenges, including those who require wheelchair, stretcher, or bariatric stretcher accommodations. Whether a customer needs a ride to a medical appointment, therapy session, facility transfer, or to the airport, we are here.

What sets us apart is the heart behind what we do. This is not just a business for us; it is personal. Every operational decision we make is rooted in the question of whether we would be comfortable with our own family member receiving this level of care. That standard drives everything from the quality of our vehicles to the way our team interacts with every patient we serve.

We are also intentional about who we are as a company. As a minority-owned, husband-and-wife small business, we bring both a personal and professional perspective to this work.
