Meet Ryan Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Jones.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Being a black male growing up in a low-income single-parent household was a challenge. My mother did everything she could and prayed for me not to become a statistic: incarcerated, uneducated, “baby mama” drama or working a dead-end job (to God be the glory for her prayers being answered).

During my senior year in high school, I discovered that I loved to help people and be of service. I also knew that I wanted to go to college but did not have the resources or the academic aptitude to matriculate on a college level. In all of that, So it was during that time, I went out for the basketball team (yes, in my senior year) and I had very little basketball ability. I worked hard every day, in the classroom and out, to become a student-athlete.

With a 1 point/1 rebound average, I was fortunate enough to get a full scholarship to attend Morehouse College to play basketball. That blessing came because a football coach from the college was walking through the gym to go watch the football team practice. He stopped to watch us and said he appreciated my hard work as a player. He later told me that he spoke to the basketball coach/athletic director about me and that is how I ended up at Morehouse.

I later transferred to Southern University (Baton Rouge) and it was there that I really discovered my passion for helping people and being of service. My life has been dedicated to giving back to the community as much as possible. I have done basketball clinics for “under-served” youth in the community as well as dedicating my time to speak life into the lives of our youth.

I am currently the Professional School Counselor at Fulton Leadership Academy (an all boys charter school) where I teach young men about being a being the best that they can be. Outside of that, I am giving back by going into schools (statewide) and speaking to students about the importance of self-branding, education and taking ownership of their life.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been as smooth road. I use basketball as a way to connect with youth in the communities that I speak in. My biggest struggle has been building my brand as an Empowerment Expert and Transformational Trainer. I have been able (with time) to build it into what I want it to be.
