Meet Sarah K Chari of Music By Tritone in Roswell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah K Chari.

Sarah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My siblings and I grew up loving music in a family of musicians. We loved playing our instruments together as children, later formed a classically influenced, alternative band, KChari. Perhaps inevitable, we opened a music school, Music by Tritone with 2 locations in Roswell and Alpharetta in 2001. After deciding to pursue a career in teaching and performance playing classical piano, keys and drums. I became intrigued with teaching students of all ages and levels on piano and drums in a way that engaged and developed students from diverse backgrounds with individual goals. This concept motivated me to develop our school with my brother Joshua and I’ve loved every minute of it! Working with my family and friends is such a wonderful blessing! We provide music instruction for piano, violin, viola, cello, guitar, drums and voice as well as offer recording services and education. Our music school embraces a family focused, individual-centric philosophy with attention to the fundamentals in a fun inspiring format.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Opening a business is always challenging but because I am able to share what I love with my community, that more than makes up for any challenges that have come up along the way. For us the biggest challenge was getting started and getting the word out. Once people knew what we were about, we received more support than we could have ever expected. We have grown primarily by word of mouth. Our student’s families are an integral part of what we do!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Music By Tritone – what should we know?
Music By Tritone is a music school with two locations in Roswell and Alpharetta, Georgia. We teach private and group lessons for piano, violin, viola, cello, guitar, drums and voice and also offer recording services and instruction. We opened in 2001 with just three teachers (My 2 siblings and I) and have since grown to include a variety of instruments taught by our great staff of teachers. I’m most proud of having an ethical business that shapes the lives of many children and adults each day, bringing the joy of music to the families of my local community. We are unique as a music school in that we are not a lesson factory. Instead we teach fundamental skills and good technique while fostering a lifelong love of music. We have created an individually tailored teaching format that is both enjoyable, entertaining and progressive, allowing students to develop while playing the songs and music they want to play.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I think my siblings, parents, grandparents and my own music teachers highly influenced me in the decisions I made to create my successful business. They laid the groundwork to show me how to be the business women I am today.
