Today we’d like to introduce you to Shah LVL.
Shah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am an up and coming artist from the Metro Atlanta area. I started writing my music around the age of 14 and in middle school, I played the clarinet and that is when I knew making music would be my passion. I dropped my first song called “Jealousy” in 2017 and started growing my fan base from there. Back in 2017, I was known as “Shahism” and dropped my first EP called “Shahism” which included six songs and was available on all music platforms including Apple Music/iTunes, Spotify, YouTube, Soundcloud, etc.. The EP was half-rapping and half-singing which included three songs from each half. The biggest song on the EP was “Time,” which was one of my favorite songs I ever made. When 2018 came around, I felt like I needed to rebrand myself and came up with the new name “Shah LVL” to have a fresh new start. This would carry on into 2019 and I would go on to perform at my school that year. My influences in music strive from talented artists such as Drake, Lauryn Hill, Chris Brown, Travis Scott, J. Cole, Nas, Kendrick Lamar, etc.. Fast forward to 2020, I just dropped my new single called “Kappin” and started my record label, which is called Shah Records.
Has it been a smooth road?
I would say no, being an independent artist. You have to be able to do everything to put yourself in the position to succeed in music. I feel like people see their favorite rappers flexing the money and all the jewelry and they think they can make music themselves. That is why so many of them end up failing because they’re chasing a lifestyle they do not know about and they don’t develop the passion for music. Going back to what I said earlier, I had to boss up and become an engineer because I didn’t have the financial support to pay an engineer. Getting money to fund my career was one the main thing that was holding me back early on in my career. I’m glad I went through that struggle, though, because I gained a lot of knowledge about the music industry that I would have never known.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
So Shah Records is a record label and we specialize in music. Currently, Shah LVL the CEO is the only artist on the roster, but we are looking to sign other talented artists as we continue to grow in the future. As a company, we are proud of the fact that we keep it authentic and we stay true to our brand. That is what makes us different because we have a brand which is SHAH, meaning Stay Hungry And Humble. This promotes positivity and continues to motivate people to do better in life.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel like Atlanta is the best place in the United States to start a record label/make music. People are moving from places like Florida, Alabama, Ohio, Tennessee, etc. to come here so that they can pursue a career in music. I would recommend coming to Atlanta for music. It’s just good vibes out here and people are going to support you and going to want to see you win in this industry. It’s just an overall good place to be in any area of business.
