Meet Snellville Makeup Artist: JaLeeda Floyd

Today we’d like to introduce you to JaLeeda Floyd.

JaLeeda, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
One day, I started a model management company to help amateur models to build their portfolio. Six years ago, I was on set for a photoshoot, there wasn’t a makeup artist, but I did have a makeup bag in the car. I did the model’s makeup and since that moment I discovered my passion. After that, I decided to build my own portfolio, get a business license, went to tv/film beauty school, and network. Since then, I’ve had amazing clients. I absolutely enjoy boosting women confidence and allowing them to bring out their true personality. After, doing this for awhile, I created an event called You Can Make It. YCMI is an event that is dedicated to women in day shelters. The volunteers and I take the day to just do their makeup, help them prep for their interviews, or just make them feel great again. Makeup is beyond surface level beauty, it is an element that brings what’s stored on the inside out. After discovering my passion, I have been working on my cosmetic line for almost two years now, that I have soft-launched in July and will fully launch Oct 22, 2016.

Has it been a smooth road?
I’ve learned that every branch of the beauty industry has it’s trade offs. Sometimes just being a makeup artist doing clients in or out of shop can have it’s drought season. With the tv/film industry, you learn your time is mainly your trade off. So I’ve been down both roads where the trade-offs were a struggle for me.

What is the most difficult part of what you do?
The hardest part of my job is sometimes finding new clients.

How do you define success?
Accomplishing weekly, monthly, and yearly goals is a success to me. I believe that if you map out your dreams on paper and working on your goals daily then you are successful.

So, what should we be on the lookout for, what’s next in store for you?
With Beauty by JaLeeda, I look forward to always making my clients feel happy, beautiful, and confident. I am now also looking forward to Kalon Kosmetics to become a brand that allows women to feel radiant, bold, and confident. I am also looking forward to developing this brand into empowering others by acknowledging monthly awarenesses and giving back to our community.
