Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Le’.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Tiffany. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always been an innovator when it comes to fashion, even when I was a little girl. For my dolls, I would take old pillowcases and glue outfits together or make shoes out of whatever was laying around- construction paper, tape, doilies. In high school, I remember going through a career compatibility assessment and thinking I should become a fashion designer or photographer. I ended up going to college for photography, but kept styling on the side as a sort of release. It’s funny, even people in creative fields need a way to express themselves outside of their focus. A lot of my friends and peers would ask me about my clothing and jewelry, and when I told them I made it- they encouraged me to sell it. Little do they know, I tried early on to sell and didn’t have much success, but I decided to give it another shot because I believed I had found my niche. Now that I have a larger network, it has been easier to market myself and my products.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has certainly been a bumpy road, and the main reason for that is lack of knowledge or guidance in navigating the e-commerce world. My first time presenting my creations to the world (outside of my family and friends) was at a craft show and I think I sold one item – a bow – to my mom. I cried that evening. It was very sweet, but I was pretty heartbroken. After months of experimenting with a plethora of mediums and styles, I found that I like jewelry and crocheting the most; then I was faced with the challenge of making people want it enough to trust me and buy it. One thing I’ve learned about myself through this growth process is that when I need something done, I will find the resources to do it myself or delegate the right people too, so I’m grateful for being able to find solutions. I’ve received inspiring advice from several dozens of innovators.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Handmade by Le’ – what should we know?
Handmade by Le’ is a brand about carefree boldness. I want women of all kinds to feel comfortable and confident in who they are, and my designs speak to that outgoing personality with a hint of sensuality. My goal is for women to be proud of their bodies and know that it’s okay to love your temple as it is- no need to compete with others or cover up in shame. That is why I make (almost) everything custom fit. Knowing that my hands crocheted an outfit or made a sexy jewelry piece just right for a woman who wants to show off her best makes me feel most proud as a creator and designer. I am ecstatic to share my passion with others, and I believe they sense that with every piece.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Charisma is definitely a significant characteristic of success. When you show that you genuinely believe your talents are amazing, people will curiously take a chance to see what you have to offer.
