Today we’d like to introduce you to Tomeka Thornton.

Tomeka, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was a full-time employee at Grady Hospital as a Medical Records Clerk in 2013-Once the HR Manager confirmed that my salary was maxed out-I prayed, fasted and decided to take a leap of faith towards my dreams.

I’ve always had a flair for decorating, designing and obtaining my own business. Exquisite Events By Tomeka is the culmination of my vision.

Has it been a smooth road?
Of course not!
I feel that all entrepreneurs will tell you there are bumps in the road.
Each day presents a new challenge-whether managing multiple projects, dealing with the clients needs or just finding time to spend with your family.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Exquisite Events by Tomeka story. Tell us more about the business.
Exquisite Events By Tomeka has offered full-service decor since 2013.
Since opening, I’ve created masterpieces for a wide spectrum of events; from baby showers to parties, graduations to receptions, school functions, community events and many more.

In 2016, I branched out and now offer luxury throne chairs and kid furniture rentals from my other companies:
Sitting N’Style and Seats For Petites.

A majority of these events were set up in our venue space Exquisite Events Studio.

What sets me apart from others is my customer service.
All of my clients and friends are treated with respect.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Exquisite Events Academy is our newest addition-offering classes and hands-on-training to new and aspiring event planners/designers.
