Meet Trailblazer Chanel Wright

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chanel Wright.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Chanel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Back in the early 2000s, I became very intrigued with websites and wondered how do they function the way they do. I found out when you “View Source” you’re able to see all of the codes that made the website work the way it does, so this intrigued me! I learned how to code on my own, I learned how to use Adobe Photoshop on my own, and I created KissChanel.com to further explore my craft on my own. I started blogging all of my profound thoughts about life, love, and lessons whilst doing freelance web design in 2004. Fast forward to 2019 and I am still here, by the grace of God!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not been a smooth road! I used to be a punk about starting my business. One day, I looked down at one my tattoos “Accomplish everything without fear” & I had an epiphany. I finally put my skills to the ultimate test and went full time with my business in 2011. You’ll have your moments where sales will be down, the inability to get more funding, lack of support from family/friends. Running a business is like a relationship. You’re in love. Head over heels about starting this new journey! You will have some ups and downs, however, you will never give up on it. The love you have for your business to grow is what keeps it alive. The more your business grows, YOU grow.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Kiss Chanel Designs – what should we know?
Kiss Chanel Designs is my Web & Graphic Design company, catering to those that are passionate about their business. I’m mostly known for my profound blogs, eye-catching websites, luxurious logos, and unique flyer designs. I’m very down to earth & love to make people laugh, which helps make my clients more comfortable about their new business ventures. I hold long-lasting relationships with them as well, so I’m always one phone call away!

Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
Socialize, socialize, socialize! Join as many social media platforms as you can & start to find networking events to attend, bring 1000 business cards with you, and start mingling. It’s very important to know your target audience as well. If you’re a weave supplier, the nursing home is the last place you want to go solicit your services to, LOL.
