Meet Trailblazer Kristen Randolph

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Randolph.

Kristen, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started off in corporate hospitality sales. The only black and female in management in Nashville, TN (hometown). As if my workload was not already 60+ hours a week managing groups, events and room blocks, my wonderful boss added social media management for the hotel as apart of my responsibilities. It was then I realized a lot of corporate spaces and personal brands need social media management and thus Lifestyle Media Management, my social media marketing company was born and something I pursued full time.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Smooth rode? Is that even a thing? lol ABSOLUTELY NOT! Far from a smooth rode and far from a fairytale. My main struggles were internal battles with myself. Prior to being a businesswoman, when successful people would say everything starts with a mindset, I’d laugh in ignorance and be like “yeah yeah, get to the part where you give me the blueprint to make millions”. Every struggle has come from a battle within and just the courage to believe in myself in spite of failed business ventures, some friends/family laughing and not being supportive, and just faith that I wasn’t crazy for wanting to pursue my dreams in spite of opposition. My advice is to surround yourself with people you want to be like: #1. If you’re going to be the first millionaire in your family, stop seeking advice and approval from people who are non-millionaires. They can’t validate you for things they can’t see for themselves. #2 Have a high ability to learn and a high ability to accept change. #3 Have a daily ritual of prayer/meditation- you need to be in sync with yourself and stay connected to the Most High as He will give you strength and discernment. #4 Eliminate the words “try”, “wish”, “can’t”, and “hope” from your vocabulary. You’re either going to do and believe in yourself or not. #5 Invest in yourself – READ, seek therapy when needed, have time for yourself whether its a massage each month, getting your hair did, whatever it is, take time to unplug even if it’s just for a few hours.

Please tell us about Lifestyle Media Management – what should we know?
I own a social media marketing agency that helps personal brands get the exposure they need via social media and I have a photography studio called Kreatively Fertile. Kreatively Fertile is a lifestyle brand for creatives and stands for being fertile or pregnant with ideas and when you come in contact with our studio and services, your able to give birth to your vision. I’m most proud of the brands that we have visibly transformed. I do photography, websites, train people who want to be social media managers, product sourcing, product labeling, workshops and business consultations for people to know their numbers so in alot of ways I can be a one-stop-shop from concept to the final product. We’re unique because we’re a boutique agency. All my clients can talk to me or my assistant directly and we oftentimes become extremely close to our clients. I take pride in visually transforming brands. You can have a great brand but when I come to your website or social sites and it’s visually distasteful, it can turn potential buyers off. Working with us brings cadence, class, brand awareness and trust to brands.

We’re interested to hear your thoughts on female leadership – in particular, what do you feel are the biggest barriers or obstacles?
Competition over collaboration. We can all eat and all win. If I see a bad chick doing her thing, I want to join forces, not envy and that honestly comes down to confidence and knowing that no matter who around me is successful or seems to be doing better than what God has for me is for me. The universe has already marked my territory from birth so my destiny has been fulfilled since I got here. I just have to walk in it. Knowing that makes it easy and natural to be happy for others.
