Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyanne Bryce.
Tyanne, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m Tyanne Bryce, a recent college graduate of Thomas Jefferson University, with a BS in Fashion Merchandising and Management with a specialization in Global Brand Strategy. After graduation I decided to take the “road less traveled” and with the support of my family, I jumped into entrepreneurship. I’ve always had a passion for it; growing up I was consistently running some sort of business from my fashion design company, Beautiful Diamonds to my DIY phone case company, Jean T. Productions. Entrepreneurship has always been in my blood, so after graduating I decided to truly give it a try.
My businesses, Practically Poised and Poised Media, are important in their own ways. They were created with the intention of helping others to elevate in one way or another. Practically Poised, is a lifestyle blog that inspires entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs to create a more positive mindset so they can create the lifestyle of their dreams. Poised Media, is a social media firm, and I assist business owners and influencers in leveling up their business social media by focusing on Community Management and Visual Strategy.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has not been smooth, there have been ups but the downs take the cake. As a new entrepreneur obstacle are expected to happen, that’s how you learn to be a better business owner over time. The most important struggles I’ve had to work through in my journey include learning how to network and effectively pitching to potential clients. These challenges may seem small but its these skills that can take you from a side hustle with zero return to a business where you’re earning a salary.
I don’t look at my struggles as a bad thing, they are stepping stones and lessons I can learn from which will ultimately lead me to success. When I’m going through an obstacle whether it’s not hitting a sales goal or losing a potential client, I deal with how it makes me feel, accept it, and move forward. I try my best not to dwell on these things because that will only hold me back. Challenges are expected especially as a new business owner, straight out of college, and trying to figure this all out on my own.
We’d love to hear more about the business.
So like I mentioned before, Practically Poised is a lifestyle blog currently with a focus on positive mindset development. I went in this direction for my blog because I saw a gap in the lifestyle blogging and entrepreneurship industries. People glorify and showcase perfect and unrealistic lives, lives that regular people can only aspire to as opposed to relating and achieving. I wanted to create a platform from the perspective of a regular person (myself) straight out of college trying to become the best version of myself as I endure this entrepreneurship journey. I keep my content as authentic and real as possible because REAL life isn’t picture perfect.
As for my media firm, Poised Media, I work mainly with business owners and influencers. The goal is to assist them in leveling up their brands by focusing on Community Management and Visual Strategy to inturn boost brand awareness and increase their turnover rate. Within the social media marketing industry, I also recognized a white space. The majority of Social Media Strategists and Managers focus strictly on the marketing side of social media and brand growth which is necessary but overly saturated. I found that there aren’t many specializing in the strategy necessary to maintain the new exposure clients receive after investing in high-level marketing. That’s where Poised Media comes in, I saw the gap and the lack of knowledge businesses had on keeping their newfound followers and profile views. I wanted to be of service, especially being that I am passionate about community, I have a creative eye and a knack for strategy. For both of my businesses, I am proud of the fact that I am able to assist people in a way my competitors aren’t targeting.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My family for sure, they have been a huge part of my journey thus far. I wouldn’t be where I am right now if it weren’t for them cheering me on and supporting my decision to go after this dream which I knew wouldn’t be a cakewalk. My mom even took it upon herself to take on the role of my mentor to hold me accountable and help me to stay on track daily.
I also want to give credit to my first clients, Brittany and Jessica, the women running The Women of Color FashTech Brunch. They believed in my ability and invested in my services before anyone else. This gave me the confidence to keep pushing through specifically with my media business. Working with them taught me a lot about business and how to effectively work with clients. Without that first experience, I really wouldn’t be where I am today as a businesswoman.
