Meet Tyera Thomas of Allure By Alex in Albany

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyera Thomas.

Tyera, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started doing makeup in late 2016. I was only 15 years old. What motivated me to actually start my business was the tragic death of my aunt. Before she passed, she was teaching me the business aspect of the makeup world as well as her different techniques. After she passed, it took me a while to get serious, but I knew I couldn’t let her down because of the passion and talent we shared.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a pretty smooth road overall. People have always given me a lot of support because of the dedication I have to my craft. My only issue was I discouraged myself because it was so many makeup artists in my area so I felt as if I wouldn’t stand out from them.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I specialize in doing makeup. I’m most proud of the fact that people around the country have noticed me. I have been able to work on different music video sets and photo shoots. Also, I’m booked for a few weddings this year. I would say that I’m very connected with my clients and that is what sets me apart from other makeup artists. I’m always looking out for what’s best for my clients!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I have a photo shoot coming up to reintroduce my business. I will introduce my venture into the hair world as well as my upcoming lip gloss line! Stay tuned!!
