Meet Vince Frankowski of Dunwoody Restaurant Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vince Frankowski.

Vince, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The Dunwoody Restaurant Group’s start was established in 1996 with The Dunwoody Tavern. The tavern then led the way to expand and develop the future and now we are the leading pub company in Atlanta.

Huw Thomas, a Brit, went back to his roots to start expanding the company and do what he knew best, having run a pub in England before moving to the USA in 1986. He designs and builds each pub, running styles from London Pub to Country Pub, each one is unique. Antiques are purchased in England and shipped by his family to decorate each pub.

Anyone who visits our pubs always has their favorite pub and will gladly announce it whenever asked.

We have a great team of people working for the group and we pride ourselves on the longevity of our management and staff. We pride ourselves on knowing your name and ensure you don’t have a ‘chain restaurant’ experience!

Our staff can satisfy almost any catering requirement that you might need.

Our Motto is ‘ We know who you are and we know what you want ‘ and our Objective is ‘Snugness not Smugness’, We currently operate 7 pubs in the Atlanta Metro Area with our 8th exciting new location, The Black Swan Tavern, now open! Cheers!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This is the restaurant/pub business. Every day is like a roller coaster. Staffing in the industry has become a very big struggle. Restaurants are opening left and right and the pool of great staff has thinned. Once we do get a good one, they do end up staying. We have employees that have been with us for 17 years. That speaks highly of what we have been able to accomplish and how well we take care of our family.

Dunwoody Restaurant Group – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are the largest pub company in Atlanta. We are British at heart and although we feature some signature British items, we also offer some very fun and familiar tavern selections.

We are very proud of our from-scratch kitchen. Many of the other guys will simply pull something as simple as chicken tenders from the freezer. We are hand battering our fresh chicken to order as we do with our code to make our famous fish and chips.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
We define success through growth and sales. We currently operate 8 locations with a planned expansion of one location and our 9th location, the Duke of Wellington, slated to open in the Perimeter area in Q3, 2018.

We see a tremendous following of regulars and find that as we expand, guests come out of the woodwork to explain how much they love our locations and can’t wait for the new locations to open.
