Meet Wilber & Quashaunda Kitchens of The Kitchens Table 2.0

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wilber & Quashaunda Kitchens

Hi Wilber & Quashaunda, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It all started in the year 1993, in the band room of Southwest Dekalb High School, still one of if not the best band in Georgia. We were high school bandmates and classmates. A sweet introduction led to a teenage love that turned into a young naive married couple. Our first wedding had all the bells and whistles beautiful wedding gown, eight bridesmaids and groomsmen, stretch navigator limousines, reception on the golf course and honeymoon in Jamaica. You name it we had it. Married a total of ten years, from that to a divorced couple. Then ten years later we remarried each other again. A real fairytale wedding and a rollercoaster love story of reconciliation. However today, having built our marriage on a strong foundation, we’re more in love and stronger than ever. We’ve learned how to keep our marriage a priority while having healthy communication and setting boundaries with coparents and in-laws.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. There where plenty of struggles along the way. In our first marriage we dealt with almost everything. We had to deal with family members who weren’t necessarily excited about our marriage. We also had in-laws who didn’t understand boundaries and that they could not run our household. This was the biggest issue. We also had to deal with coparenting, which at times became vindictive. Not to mention our own issues that we had navigating through being newlyweds with two small children in our home.

Once we separated that was also hard. Even though we were at a point where I (Quashaunda) felt the divorce was necessary, it was still hard because I still loved my husband. I didn’t want it to traumatize our sons. I knew it would take a toll on them because Wilber has always been a very present loving father. We did the best we could to soften the blow when we told them the news of our divorce.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are published authors, speakers and a husband and wife marriage coaching team. We encourage married couples who are facing a challenging time in their marriage to start with our book for some results driven guidance. If more help is still needed we offer a coaching program to deep dive into what is causing the challenges and give an action plan to bring about the healthy and passionate marriage they desire.

We specialize in helping married couples with blended families prioritize their marriage and establish healthy communication and boundaries with their in-laws and coparents. The divorce rate in the united states is 40-50%. However black couples have the highest divorce rate among all races at 30.8 percent. It doesn’t have to be that way.

What sets us apart is that we actually went through everything that we are coach our clients on. We’re not guessing what to do or just pulling out stats from articles. We have real life experiences with solutions. We “real-lifed” it! We are a success story, a product of our own program. What we’ve accomplished is what we teach.

We are most proud of our recently self-published book, HOW BADLY DO YOU WANT IT? A Married Couple’s Guide to a Healthy & Passionate Marriage. Our book is a guide to help other married couples navigate through similar challenges. It’s packed with some of our real life examples, strategies and exercises to complete to help strengthen your marriage.

In addition to our book which is available on our website and on Amazon as a paperback or e-book version. We wrote and copyrighted a a catchy and upbeat song titled “I’m M.A.R.R.I.E.D.”, available for download on all platforms. We had our first television appearance on daytime tv’s FOX 5 Atlanta network. The Portia TV Show. We’ve also been guests on a few podcasts and panel guests at “The Cleansing, Reconciliation in the Garden” conference. With our last name being Kitchens and our love for cooking and entertaining we’ve created a beautiful luxury dinnerware and flatware set that has been featured in Modern Luxury Interiors Atlanta Magazine, page 113, The Refresh Issue, Volume IV 2022, We also recently had the amazing opportunity to be invited to Wal-Mart’s online platform! All of our products can now be purchased on their website. It’s a new program that they have rolled out called Wal-Mart local marketplace so it will only show to those customers who live within a 35 mile radius or less than our business zip code of 30337.

We have also rolled out our coaching program which starts with a complimentary discovery call which can be scheduled on our website. So needless to say we’ve been working. Glory to God!

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
The same day we got divorced we went back home together and interacted (slept together) as though we were still a married couple!
