Myron Roberson shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Myron, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are all about alignment and connection. I start by waking up and spending time in prayer, which grounds me and sets the tone for the day. After that, I shower and join my wife and kids for breakfast it’s important for me to share that time with them before the day gets busy. Once I’ve connected with my family, I transition into work by checking emails and having conversations with my team and staff. That rhythm of faith, family, and focus helps me step into each day with clarity and purpose.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Chef Robee, and I am the founder and creative force behind I Am Chef Robee & Taste of the Robersons. What makes our brand unique is that it’s more than just food it’s an experience of culture, love, and excellence on every plate. Alongside my wife, Alyssa Devore-Roberson, we’ve built a brand that blends bold Caribbean and Southern influences into luxury catering and elevated comfort foods, with signature dishes like jerk salmon pasta, jumbo lump crab cakes, and rosemary garlic lamb chops.
What drives us is not just cooking, but creating moments whether that’s serving corporate clients with high-end catering or bringing people together through food that tells a story. Our journey is rooted in faith, perseverance, and family, and that partnership is what gives our brand its strength and authenticity. Right now, we’re excited about expanding our reach, continuing to innovate with bold flavors, and creating unforgettable experiences that leave a lasting impression.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that has most shaped how I see myself is the one I share with my wife, Alyssa. Her love has been consistent, patient, and without judgment even in moments when I didn’t see the best in myself, she did. That kind of love has a way of holding up a mirror, not to your flaws, but to your potential. It challenges me to grow, to lead with more compassion, and to live with greater intentionality. Her ability to see me not just for who I am, but for who I’m becoming, has been life changing and it’s given me a deeper understanding of what it means to love and to be loved.”
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
When we first started, it was right before the pandemic, and there were definitely moments when I almost gave up. We didn’t have a lot of clientele, and our reach in the community was very limited. It felt like all the effort wasn’t producing much fruit. But then, I was given the opportunity to cook for a couple of professional football players. That moment gave me hope it sparked something in me, a sense of drive and belonging, like maybe what I was building really did have a place. Shortly after that, doors started to open, and I realized that setbacks weren’t signs to quit but invitations to persevere. That lesson still fuels me today.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes the public version of me is the real me. What you see is what you get. I’m direct, straightforward, funny, and I love to have fun. At the end of the day, I try to show up the same way in every space I’m in, whether that’s with family, friends, clients, or the community.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
When I’m gone, I hope people say that I lived a life of faith and impact. That I was committed to my wife, my children, and my family, and that I gave my all to see them succeed. I also want to be remembered as someone who didn’t just cross paths with people but poured into them helping them grow, develop, and see what God placed inside of them. At the end of the day, I want my legacy to be that I loved well, served faithfully, and left people better than I found them.
