Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciyana Ramos.
Hi Ciyana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have been dancing for about 14 years now and have been working towards my career of going pro one day. Most of my life hasn’t been sunny and rainbows, I grew up in an abusive with a father who was note very kind. This made me want to work even harder to show I can be more than that. So for the past 13 years after that I’ve been working the hardest I could… and then I lost my biggest supporter my grandma. She was the loudest cheers in the audience and the one person I felt I could come and talk about any of my dreams with. The reason I dance is not only for myself but the loved ones I lost on the way. I know run a hiphop company at Dancefx, teaching open hiphop and jazz funk. As well as I am a graduating senior class of 2026, yet I did graduate early in December I just decided I wanted to walk with my class. This year has been especially hardest now that I have reached the peek of having to graduate from my youth dance company. My life has been ever changing lately and a roller coaster.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It had its ups and downs.. some of the struggles along the way was loosing my grandmother
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I teach dance. I especially run a company for adults in hiphop so they can have an outlet to still be connected to something they love to do… I also work for a dance competition Open call working and helping out run things.. As well as with my youth company going and competing dances I have learned. I also received a 80000 scholarship to attend the American Musical Dramatic Academy in New York City… Although I won’t be able to attend the year due to finical instability I hope to attend further down the road.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success not only in the outcomes but also in how you decide how you want those outcomes to appear. Not only working hard gets you success but also how you choose to handle that success and passions. If I didn’t push myself harder everyday to be where I wanna be then I would have never came this far. Life is a whirlwind but only you can choose how hard the wind is.
