Rising Stars: Meet Kiondra Monee of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiondra Monee

Hi Kiondra, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
From a young age, I discovered that expressing myself through creative outlets like dancing, acting, and singing were incredibly therapeutic. My passion for the arts only grew stronger through high school, leading me to pursue a degree in film and video production. Despite my enthusiasm, I struggled with shyness about my dream of becoming an actress—until a pivotal moment in my senior year at Georgia State University.

Steve Harvey came to speak to our class and shared his own journey into the entertainment industry. He recounted the skepticism he faced from those who doubted his unconventional career path. His story resonated deeply within me, and his words ignited a fire within me to pursue my dreams fearlessly.

However, the journey was far from smooth. At the start of my acting career, I was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, which led to three brain surgeries. This challenge was daunting, but my faith in God and the strength I found within myself turned these obstacles into a source of resilience.

Today, I’m thrilled to be working in the industry I’ve always dreamed of. I’ve had the privilege of starring in films like “Strange to Me,” “True Colors,” and “Tradition,” and recently, I guest-starred in the musical theater production “If It Isn’t Love.” I’ve also embarked on writing and producing my own projects, and I’m eager to share these creations with the world.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would definitely say it has not been a smooth road. At the beginning of my journey to become an actress and model, I faced some major health scares. ln my senior year of college, I was diagnosed with hydrocephalus and had to undergo 3 brain surgeries. The surgeries and recoveries put a major pause in my journey

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an actress, model, and influencer recognized for my brand ambassador work with esteemed companies such as Shein, Walmart, Target, Amazon, and Orgain. My film credits include roles in “Strange to Me,” “True Colors,” and “Tradition,” and I am currently performing in the theater musical “If It Isn’t Love.” What I am most proud of is my unwavering determination to overcome obstacles. My resilience is a defining quality; many are astonished by my ability to persevere and thrive despite the challenges life presents.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
My faith in God is most important to me. Without his grace, I don’t know where I’ll be and how I would have made it this far
