Rising Stars: Meet Mz. Leebra Clark of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mz. Leebra Clark

Hi Mz. Leebra, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up with a passion for reading and writing so much that I won as a 5th Grade Top Writer and published my little short story in Ralph McGill Elementary School’s Writing Contest. This only fueled a passion in me that continued to grow throughout my life. It wasn’t until around 2012 that I decided to finally take a chance on myself to become a published author.

When I first started on my journey as an author, I was signed to a publishing company, but that was a handful of drama in itself that deserves its own mini-series, but I shall keep that to myself. However being amongst other authors, publishers, editors, and designers, inspired me to start thinking outside the box. What if I can do all of this on my own? And that is what I did.

I got out of my contract with that publishing company, and am now a self-published author. It can definitely be hectic trying to juggle all of the responsibilities that comes with self-publishing to ensure that you get everything done for your books. However, when you finally get to hold that finished product in your hands and you know that you did everything to make that moment happen, it is truly a rewarding feeling.

I currently have 6 novels available on Amazon.

My novels can be classified as Urban Fiction, but I will dibble and dabble in other genres soon. I have to keep reminding my family and friends that I am not in the business of writing autobiographies, so nothing that they read is even close to anything that I have or am going through in my life.

My last book, Kiss It Better, was released in 2018, and you can say I went on a little hiatus from writing.

2024 has been a year of rediscovery for me and I am ready to dust off my computer and get back to the things that make me happy, and writing is #1 on that list!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being an author is not easy. It takes time to write period!

You have to write, re-write, proofread, and re-write some more. Some authors can push out 3 or 4 books a year, which is awesome, but my life doesn’t give me that flexibility so I am lucky if I can push 1 out a year.

I want to provide my readers with my very best, so let me apologize ahead of time for the wait.

Not only that, you have to promote yourself, you can get discouraged if you think about all the distractions out here in the world these days…who has time to read???

But trust me, there is an audience out there waiting to read your work, you just have to put in the work to reach them.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an Author

I currently have 6 novels available on Amazon. 4 full-length novels and 2 short stories.

Protect My Image

My Sister’s Deceit

My Sister’s Deceit 2: Nova’s Way

Kiss It Better

I am most known for my first novel Protect My Image. This will always be my baby because it launched my career as an author, and sets the tone for what I would like to call the world of Mz. Leebra. There is a hidden gem in all of my books and the only way to find that gem, is to read my books.
I am proud of my most recent book Kiss It Better. I challenged myself to a deadline after I noticed my procrastination was winning. After many sleepless nights and early mornings, I met my deadline and completed Kiss It Better.

I am most proud of all of my books though, and that I am a self-taught self-published author!

What sets me apart is that I am a born-and-raised self-published author from Atlanta (Zone 3 to be exact).

How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is giving people a little break from reality by getting lost in one of my books. Knowing that I can transport them into a world that I have created is an amazing feeling.
