Rising Stars: Meet Zion Bennett (SVNMOREDAYS)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zion Bennett (SVNMOREDAYS).

Hi Zion Bennett, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I guess I can say my journey as a person, navigating my hobbies and what would soon to be my artistic impact, really started out with me just being a kid playing my guitar for my church back home in Fayetteville, North Carolina. A kid full of ideas, dreams with a knack for technology and art. Nothing too unconventional at the moment until I graduated school, attended college and was introduced to fatherhood at a very unexpectedly time and young age, being 21.

The experience very much thrusted me into adulthood, a bit of forced maturity and relocation, which brought me here to the Atlanta area. I was able to take those experiences and channel it into my once beloved hobby of music, and doing so transformed what I thought was just a Sunday morning service routine into what I am now standing as the rapping, singer, songwriter you are interviewing today.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road was as smooth as it could possibly have been with my own rebellious altercations. But growing up, that’s just the natural process of becoming of age.

If I had to give this road a name or arch of my ever-evolving overall life story, I would call it the wilderness. I was very much alone and not just in a physical sense, being relocated to a place far from home or anyone I knew for the sake of being a father, but also internally. With feeling shunned from the world, rejected, not at my best and lack thereof, for better words, depressed with how my life had been shaping out to be. I struggled with worth and value and how to overcome it.

My best outlet and release was my music, art and giving myself back to what I once knew. Those Sunday morning service routines of playing, reading and giving my time to the Lord.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Christian artist, more so known for expressing myself through many areas of music such as hip-hop, rap and even r&b. As well as through arts and designs in the more commonly known graphical areas.

My most proud efforts in the music arena so far has been the production and release of my very first debut album at the top of the 2022 year called “Wilderness”. A to me, emotional piece and book of psalms of my life experiences up to this point.

I feel what sets me apart from others is essentially my own sensible authenticity and transparency in my art. Something not a lot of people come straight through the door with, but doing so I believe is what builds the ground for the proper listeners, follows, friends and audience to impact and to even find me. Going forward, having a firm foundation to build upon without having to operate out of any forged blueprint or made up context that isn’t of me or not as genuine is what makes it all the more personable.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I’m actually a very soft-spoken person despite my work sometimes coming across more ad-hearing. My vocals are turned allll the wayyy upppp!

I also like to piece my projects together first by composition from start to finish (first track – last track) with no lyrics before actually adding my own voice and personal touches.

I also tend to write on the go and never all at once or in a sitting, it’s usually bar by bar or verse by verse whilst I’m recording. In some cases, I have done it one sitting and then recorded.
