Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazzy Mcbee.
Affectionately known as “Miss 10 til 2 aka “The Voice of Atlanta Radio”, Jazzy McBee is the most sought after personality in the South. Raised in Decatur, GA as one of five sisters, hard work & women’s empowerment grows naturally with McBee. With many years vested in the radio industry, Jazzy is favored for her sassy, homegirl, around-the-way personality. After starting her career at an opposing station, she left to join one of the top stations in Atlanta at Streetz 94.5 to be a starting personality with her own Midday show Monday through Friday from 10a-2p.
Making her own way, Jazzy has broken exclusives with a host of high profile acts such as Mary J. Blige, John Singleton, Common, Kanye West, Chris Brown, Jamie Fox, and many other celebrities. Her celebrity interviews received national attention from nationwide blog sites such as The Shaderoom, BallerAlert, and more.
Endorsing all channels of beauty, entertainment, event hosting, and charity, work Jazzy hosted initiatives for the likes of Saving Our Daughters Foundation, 100 Women’s Empowerment at the Georgia State Capitol, Atlanta City Hall, The Atlanta Mayor, & more.
Recently, Jazzy received recognition from the Governor, Lt. Governor, Georgia Senate & House of Representatives at the Georgia State Capitol for charitable contributions in the community with her nonprofit organization (The Fab 5 Foundation, Inc) and radio industry. Whereby she received proclamation awards by the Senate & House of Representatives to highlight her achievements as a young black sophisticated woman in radio.
Jazzy has earned a BA in Communications as well as her MBA (Masters in Business Administration)
Her strong love for family, community, and supporting various charities has driven her to start her own 501c3 non-profit organization, The Fab 5 Foundation, Inc. It is founded to focus on nurturing and developing the minds of young girls with a strong emphasis on confidence & higher education. The Fab 5 Foundation, Inc is committed to changing the world, one girl at a time.
In November 2013, she joined an initiative that would help feed individuals of Atlanta who are less fortunate to provide them with hot meals and daily necessities. Powered by donations, Jazzy and friends feed hundreds of homeless residents in the Metro Atlanta area every year.
With a passion for all things beauty, Jazzy’s entrepreneurial spirits led her to start her own hair Extensions Company and brand, The Jazzy Girls Hair Collection. With various celebrities wearing, Jazzy Girls Hair Collection, it has quickly become one of the most popular, sought after hair brands in the hair industry.
When asked where she draws her motivation, Jazzy McBee shares these sentiments, “It comes from my immediate family and visualizing my dream. I see it and I feel close to it so never giving up on it keeps me motivated. I want to be successful; a lot of people in my industry are famous but not successful. Creating a legacy is more important than obtaining fame. Making a difference in someone’s life, paying it forward, & giving back to my community are all apart of life’s purpose.
In a world where people desire stardom, so they can stand for all things flashy, Jazzy’s aim remains to be mentioned amongst those who gave love to those around them at all. A woman of integrity, tangible realness and reliability stands a lot longer than those who search for fame for superficial come ups. Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. In fact, there are a lot of bumps, turns, and twists along the way. Before I began my career in radio, I had no idea I wanted to be a radio personality. In fact, I wasn’t trying to be. Going to free concerts & free entry into all of the hottest parties sounded appealing to me. However, when I finally decided I wanted to pursue a radio career, initially, though was impossible because I didn’t have any experience or qualifications to be a radio personality. As a college student, I wanted to learn everything I could to that would get me hired once I graduated. So I’d spend sleepless nights in the early hours of the morning at the radio station (While no one was there around 3a-7a) and I’d work on my air checks and record them while no one was around. By this time time I was hired as a board operator so I’d have access to the studios. One particular program director would have monthly meetings with me, at that time I expressed my desire to be an on-air talent. Unfortunately, he shatter my dream for just a few seconds & told me that I would never work at a top 10 market, that it would be impossible because I didn’t have any experience working in different markets. He begrudgingly advised me to move to a smaller market (like Columbus, Augusta or even Alabama) start there, and then come back years later and then “maybe” I’ll be hired in a top 10 station. Ha, but look at me now lol. Although I was extremely frustrated, I didn’t allow that to stop me. I learned almost everything I could about the station, even becoming better at my on air performance, then almost a year later I was hired in my own city at the very same station he said I wouldn’t work! At the beginning, working In a top 10 market was intimidating. Initially, I struggled with my on air confidence, trying finding my real personality. Being an introvert and extrovert, simultaneously, is where you’d have to bring more of the extroverted personality to the forefront because you have to be around people, as well as connect & talk to fans. Once I learned how to channel my personality it became 2nd nature, it’s like having an alter ego. I like her best!
Another challenge was my mom passing which was the same year my career in radio started to take off. She was one of the main reasons I continued my journey in radio. She motivated me spiritually, and told me to keep going when I wanted to quit while frustratingly interning. She was my lifeline so with her being absent in the physical, took a toll on me mentally. Many people ask is it hard working in a male-dominated industry, but I’ve never viewed men as my competitor. When I’m focused on a certain goal, it’s tunnel vision for me. My belief is that women can achieve the same amount of success as their male counterparts, women just have to work ten times harder as the men to prove “herself” to no one but “herself” and not to anyone else. Because what is meant for you, will be for you. God will allow it to be, specifically and wonderfully tailored for you!

My business is being a multimedia personality (this includes radio,some tv, CEO of Jazzy Girls Hair Collection, women’s empowerment speaker, event host, beauty ambassador, and CEO of my non-profit organization, The Fab 5 Foundation, Inc.

Jazzy plans to start an all-girls academy where they will enjoy a weekend retreat to connect with other young girls to speak freely about issues, personal & spiritual growth, leadership, fun, and more.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The most important is integrity & morality. When you keep it real and are honest with people, they will trust and believe in you. I take pride in my integrity knowing that I can be that honest with myself first and with others. Drive and determination, motivation, patience, resilience, persistence, consistency, willpower, passion, love for what you do, optimism, and self-discipline.
