Check out Adrina Vines

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrina Vines.

Adrina, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I was raised in Houston, Texas, but relocated to Atlanta two years ago, and so far I’m enjoying the city! Creativity has always been a large part of my life, as I love to imagine and bring that imagination to life. For instance, I remember one important time in my life that helped me recognize this was during “Myspace Days” when all of my friends (and many of their friends) would ask me to edit their profiles after viewing mine. Any idea that came to me, I brought it to life on my profile using photo-editing websites (like Lunapic) to edit their photos and create unique backgrounds. I would also add special effects and music to their page, not realizing I was coding back then. This was just a hobby, and I never gave it any serious attention.Creative writing is something else I have enjoyed doing for many years, specifically poetry and fictional stories. My undergraduate program, at Sam Houston State University, was Multi-Platform Journalism.

I knew I loved to create and write so this seemed like the perfect balance of the two. Little did I know I would soon fall in love with a different field of study—graphic design.

While working on campus, I began learning about graphic and web design primarily using Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver. At work, I helped manage the departments’ website, create and code digital TV signs as well as help design other promotional materials. With these new skills, I started designing flyers for events at my college and many others. As the demand for my service grew, I turned my fun hobby into a business, Vines Designs. I still received my degree in Journalism, but post-graduation my passion for graphic design flourished.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My art is graphic design. Art has no bounds and no limits, and I love allowing my imagination manifest in my work. In regards to clients, I work hard to fully understand their vision before attempting to create it. My motto is, “Creative Designs with You in Mind.” I make it a priority to only enhance the ideas that a client has proposed. As an artist, I feel it is important to not overshadow what a client may want with my ideas but to create work that shows a happy medium. I love beginning with a blank canvas and allowing ideas to flow onto it. I use my creativity to design items such as Snapchat Geo-filters, Flyers, Logos, Video Flyers, Invitations, Websites, T-Shirts, and more. I primarily use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and After Effects. When people view my art, I want them to see quality, time, and originality. I also want them to see that it was created with love. A fun fact is that I do not use organized thought/idea processes when designing; instead, I allow each creation come in its own unique way!

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
I believe that every artist should have their own definition of success. What may be considered “successful” for one person may be completely different for another. Goals play a major part in determining accomplishments as an artist. For example, if I reached a set goal of designing a certain amount of material, I may consider myself successful. However, I believe success must continually occur and truly comes from service to others. By providing my creative talent to help others make visions a reality, I am able to experience a bit of success after each client I help.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Examples of my work are shown on my website vinesdesigns.net and Instagram @vines.designs. I would love to connect with and help others. Please feel free to connect with me!
