Check out Austin Bell’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Austin Bell.

Austin, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Well… I am 22 years old and bought my first camera at 20 years old. So I feel like that on its own is the craziest part of my story. Somehow, I have become a professional photographer in a very short amount of time. I had no idea how to even take a photo in manual or why I was buying a camera at the time. I just had extra money.

I initially got interested in photography when I was 10-13 however when through a lot of crazy random situations I got to have a front-row seat watching the great Jeramy Cowart shoot for months at a time around the world.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I guess I am technically a Photographer / Videographer / and “creative” but hate using the terms because I feel like everyone says they are those things now.

Honestly, I just love being a part of really cool stuff and having a hand in the creation of it. If its photography, I want to capture the emotion of what is happening.

If it’s video, I want to bring a fresh approach to telling a story. Something that invites the viewer into the emotion of what is happening.

Then on the “creative” side, I will step in as a consultant a good amount right now to breathe direction into projects. (Mostly on the visual side) from branding/social/photography/ art direction/ Installations / etc…

I ultimately want to be a creative director one day, and I say that because I think it shapes the approach I take and how I hope people will look at my work. I don’t want to be boxed in and labeled as any one thing in the creative process. I love each phase and each piece that goes into every single project.

I ultimately want to always be changing the status quo and doing things that push art in new directions. I am for sure not at the place I want to be yet, but these are the things that are going on in my head.

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
Success to me would be looking around and seeing that I am always evolving and pushing the work I am doing in new directions.
If I can always do that, I think the other things that people view as “successful” will fall right into place.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
People can see my collection of work on my website: austin-bell.com.
