Art & Life with Jreams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jreams.

Jreams, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I was born and raised in Austin, Texas and it was in high school when I came up with my name Jreams because I producing electronic music and djing at raves. That’s when I started making visuals and music videos for all the music I was making. I learned design and basic foundation when I was in college. I studied fine arts with a concentration in printmaking at Texas state university and received a bachelor in fine arts. Shortly after I moved to japan where I continued studying Japanese from college. I spend at year aboard traveling I got a lot of my influences from eastern culture. Once moving back to the states I moved to Atlanta to study Art Direction at the creative circus for advertising. And it was in Atlanta that I developed my brand and style more. I began shooting a lot more videos and photography for other artist. I currently now work free lancing for other artist as an art director as well as working and releasing all my own music and videos.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I’m a multidisciplinary artist with a surrealist style.
I specialize in visual effects, but work primarily as an art director.
I work across a lot of mediums; photography, videography, 3D animation, graphic design, sculptor, set design, illustration, VR.

A lot of my current work has a dream like quality, whether it’s through the texture and color or the concept of the work. I like to work from a concept first approach and build around the idea.

I like taking effects in nature like lighting bending through glass or water rippling and trying to figure out how to recreate that digitally. also When I don’t know how an artist made that effect that’s what inspires me the most when I’m left asking how did they do that.

My work is heavily driven by music.

What would you recommend to an artist new to the city, or to art, in terms of meeting and connecting with other artists and creatives?
Join meet ups, or start a meet up. Find your community and talk to them. I’ve met so many artist through Instagram, but I’ve made more friends but just going out in the real world and talking people and attending events
