Community Highlights: Meet Tamiko Drummond of Lotus Consulting & Marketing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamiko Drummond.

Hi Tamiko, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
A once shy and introverted young lady has emerged to be a bold, collaborative, and empowering Branding and Marketing expert known as the Brand Success Coach. I am a Coach, Consultant, Speaker, and CEO of Lotus Consulting & Marketing, LLC.

I grew up in The Bronx, NY after moving to the states from Jamaica, W.I. at the age of seven. My parents were diligent individuals that instilled in me a strong work ethic.

I was enrolled in an advanced High School for Science & Mathematics and spent my summers in programs studying Physics and Calculus. I was on a great trajectory to become a physician but after High School my plans changed. I had my amazing son and had to pause my dreams as I navigated motherhood in an unfamiliar environment away from family and friends.

I raised my son and went back to school and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Degree in Organizational Management, Marketing & Human Resources Management.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road at all. The way I can describe it is with the iceberg analogy. You see the top of the iceberg, the success, but underneath the water is all the arduous work, late nights, tears, battles, disappointments, and lessons.

Navigating business during a pandemic was challenging at first, but it allowed me the opportunity to develop valuable new skills and each year has been better than the previous.

In 2020, I created a podcast called A Cup of Resilience, which I used to feature my clients while helping me to overcome my fear of public speaking. The word resilience, the ability to bounce back, became a word of strength. It inspired me to use my platform to highlight real topics, real people and real solutions about business, health, life, and relationships.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. There is a saying that says, “Leap and the net will appear,” as an entrepreneur you are building as you are leaping. It is not a comfortable process and there might be a lot of pivoting along the way, but I have been a full-time entrepreneur for several years now, and I have not had to look back.
