Today we’d like to introduce you to Gisellia Mouele Makita.
Hi Gisellia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was eight years old when I immigrated to the United States from the third-world nation of Congo Brazzaville. After two years in Arizona, I came to Georgia and have remained here ever since. My aunt, who raised me, constantly encouraged me to reach new heights. She made the value of education clear to me. I’ve known my entire life that I want to attend college for free. Even though I didn’t want to borrow money, I realized I had to figure out a method to pay for my education.
I started college at a very young age. At the age of 16, I was dual enrolled at the Athens Community Career Academy. I had finished all of my high school credits before I entered my senior year of high school. I graduated high school in 2020 in the top 4% of my class with a GPA of 4.1 and 45 college credits. Initially, I started college as a sophomore. I’m now pursuing a dual degree in healthcare management and dental hygiene at Clayton State University. While attempting to keep my GPA over 3.5, I am also minoring in entrepreneurship and African American studies. As a first-generation student, I always make sure to utilize all of my resources.
To pay for my college education, I have received over six figures in funding. I discovered that I had a skill once I succeeded in doing the unusual and began getting paid to attend college. I wanted to assist other students in reaching my level of success. Although it might seem impossible, I serve as an example. I want students to be aware of and appreciate the importance of applying for available grants and scholarships. I’ve seen firsthand the damage that debt can do. Debt put my family in the cycle of living paycheck to paycheck when I was growing up. That did not deter me but instead inspired me. Impellingo wants to advance a generation because student loan debt can set a generation back. We want to see college graduates start with a great foundation, exactly like I am doing. I am passionate about assisting minorities, immigrants, and others who are underrepresented to get access to higher education. I am aware that the knowledge I possess will positively influence future generations.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Being an entrepreneur and able to assist others is certainly a blessing. In all honesty, the journey has not been easy. Although Impellingo has been operational for seven months, I also attend college full-time. Being a full-time college student, working a part-time job, and running my own business caused me to slack off in the third month. I was distracted by school for about two months, which caused me to question whether this was really the right path for me. I started to lose motivation and felt exhausted. I’ve been attending college full-time since 2019—that is, for four years now. Discipline, not motivation, is needed to attend school the entire year without a break. Since I was exhausted, burnout, and unmotivated I really wanted to give up. One of my students who joined the private scholarship group chat revealed that he had earned a $1,000 scholarship the same week I was contemplating it. After that day, I just felt that I had to keep going and that this company would positively impact future generations’ lives.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about IMPELLINGO ?
In January 2022, I started a business called IMPELLINGO. The word “IMPEL” means to urge someone to do something and “LINGO” is the use of our words. We want to urge students to take advantage of scholarships. We believe that through inspiring, motivating, persuading, encouraging, and showing love to students they can learn about scholarships and secure a debt-free degree. There is power in our words as it can push others to accomplish the impossibilities. We desire to pour what we know about Scholarships unto students to help them go to college for free.
Impellingo is a scholarship e-commerce business. We aim to elevate the college graduation rate by decreasing the dropout rate. We want to see students graduate debt-free. We specialize in helping students get access to higher education for free. The thing that sets us apart is that our founder has already accomplished what we teach. Brand wise we are most proud of the fact that our business is based on giving back to the community. We are also proud of the fact that we have testimonials of students that won scholarships after making use of our resources.
Many students do not finish college due to financial reasons. As a refugee myself, I have seen immigrants not go to college because they lack access to funding.
Impellingo’s goal is to teach students how to find, apply for, and win scholarships. We do this by providing resources and tools that will help them get there. We created a private scholarships group chat that helps beginners start on their scholarship journey. Students can also book a 1 on 1 with us. We offer a personalized scholarships list, we revise scholarships essays and college entrance essays and are here to answer all of their questions. We have more and better resources that we are working on and cannot wait to launch them. We will also like to network and travel around the world to speak to students about these scholarships! One of our biggest goals is to provide funding to students for higher education. We want to provide Scholarships to students in the United States and students in third-world countries such as Congo Brazzaville, India, Somalia, etc! Here at Impellingo, we believe that every student should have access to higher education no matter what their ethnicity, race, religion, or sex is. We are always looking for network opportunities such as speaking events, so feel free to reach out to us. If you will like to support feel free to click on our business link. By supporting you are helping us turn our vision into reality.
What matters most to you?
The thing that matters to me most is helping others and giving back. I truly believe that God blesses us so that we can bless others. I have so much knowledge in the higher education field and have accomplished the impossible. I can keep all that knowledge to myself, but that does not feel right. It’s important to me to share that with someone else because in doing that I will help many students attend college for free. Graduating debt free will allow them to have a clean slate.
