Meet Karrion Lalor-Carr of Sovereign Therapy & Coaching

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karrion Lalor-Carr.

Hi Karrion, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I smile every time I’m asked this question because the path hasn’t been linear—it’s been soulful, messy, deeply personal, and absolutely worth it. I didn’t come into this work through traditional academic success. In fact, I’ve never considered myself an academic scholar. I had to be truly interested—deeply lit up by a subject—for me to excel in it. What I did come with, however, were natural gifts: empathy, intuition, and a deep sensitivity to the emotional and energetic states of others. Therapy and coaching weren’t just careers I chose; they were vocations that chose me.

I’m an immigrant. My mother brought my father and me from Kingston, Jamaica, to the Bronx, NY. Like many families, ours didn’t talk about mental health. Wellness wasn’t a practice—it wasn’t even a language we knew. But I’ve always felt things deeply, always seen beneath the surface, even when I didn’t have words for it.

When I first opened my practice, Agape Transformation Practice, it was rooted in love and the possibility of transformation. Over time, my experiences with spiritual modalities and energy healing began to challenge the traditional idea that therapy has to take years. I saw, again and again, that healing can happen in an instant—when the right energy, presence, and permission are in the room. That realization changed everything. I began building my practice on the belief that when we create a space of unconditional love and acceptance, we unlock something extraordinary: the safety to be vulnerable, to explore deeply, and to transform quickly.

Now, we’ve rebranded as Sovereign Therapy & Coaching to reflect the evolution—not just of my work, but of who I’ve become. It’s no longer just about transformation; it’s about being unleashed—living fully, authentically, and unapologetically in your power. That’s why we coined the word Tantalicious—it captures the moment you realize your heart’s desires and fully embody the joy, freedom, and sensual delight of being yourself.

This journey has taught me that sovereignty isn’t just about independence—it’s about choosing yourself again and again, healing in ways that feel aligned, and living a life that turns you on from the inside out.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—and honestly, I wouldn’t trade the bumps and detours for anything, because they’ve shaped me into the woman, therapist, and leader I am today. This December will mark several years in practice, and when I look back, I see a journey filled with both purpose and growing pains.

One of the biggest challenges has been the clarity of vision. When you’re building something from the heart, especially in a field like therapy and coaching, it can be hard to define exactly what you’re offering, because you’re not just selling a service, you’re holding sacred space. I’ve wrestled with questions like: What am I really here to do? Will this be sustainable? Can I build something that’s both soulful and successful?

There were moments when fear crept in—fear about finances, fear about whether I could really do this alone. I realized early on that I couldn’t. Developing a team became essential, but it also pushed me to grow as a leader. That was humbling. I had to stretch—not just in my clinical skills, but in how I communicate, how I delegate, and how I stay aligned with the bigger picture while managing the day-to-day.

Business development was another steep learning curve. Therapy school doesn’t teach you how to run a business. So, I had to figure it out—marketing, systems, client experience, branding—all while continuing to show up powerfully for my clients. And in the midst of that, I had to remember to take care of myself. There were times I lost sight of that, which impacted my energy and creativity. Recommitting to self-care, to my professional development, and to embodying the life I encourage others to claim—what I now call my Tantalicious Life—became non-negotiable.

The road hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been real. And every challenge has been a reminder that I’m not just building a practice—I’m building a movement rooted in authenticity, healing, sovereignty, and joy.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Sovereign Therapy & Coaching is more than a practice—it’s a sanctuary for high-achieving women who are ready to come home to themselves. We specialize in helping women break free from perfectionism, people-pleasing, and the pressure to hold it all together. Our clients are brilliant, driven, and successful on the outside—but inside, they often feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or like they’ve lost touch with who they really are.

At Sovereign, we offer therapy, transformational coaching, retreats, and immersive healing experiences designed to reconnect women with their power, intuition, and authenticity. What sets us apart is our unapologetic belief that healing doesn’t have to take forever. I’ve worked with powerful spiritual and energetic modalities that have shown me how transformation can happen in an instant, when the right container of safety, love, and truth is created.

We combine the clinical with the intuitive. The sacred with the strategic. We believe in real, lasting change—and we hold space for it to happen with grace, depth, and sometimes even joy.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how our message has evolved into something that feels like a movement. The rebrand from Agape Transformation Practice to Sovereign Therapy & Coaching reflects the journey I’ve walked myself: from just surviving and serving, to embodying sovereignty, self-expression, and spaciousness. We’ve even coined a word—Tantalicious—which represents the moment a woman fully claims her heart’s desires and lives with boldness, pleasure, and freedom. That’s what we’re really about.

We want readers to know that this is a space for you to be fully seen. Whether through one-on-one sessions, our signature retreats like Bali Unleashed, or coaching programs designed for radical self-liberation, everything we offer is infused with soul, safety, and a fierce commitment to your becoming.

If you’re ready to stop playing small, to release the masks, and to live the life your spirit is craving, we’re here to walk that journey with you—because you were never meant to just survive. You were meant to thrive, Tantaliciously.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Without a doubt, the most important quality behind my success has been deep, intuitive presence. It’s the ability to truly see people—not just what they present, but what’s beneath the surface. I’ve always had this natural attunement to what someone isn’t saying, to the energy they carry, to the unspoken needs and longings they might not even be aware of yet.

That presence creates safety—and in that safety, people soften, open, and begin to access parts of themselves they may have hidden or denied. Whether I’m working with a woman who’s leading a multimillion-dollar business or someone quietly trying to find her voice again, what they all need is someone who can sit with them, fully, without judgment, and mirror back their truth.

It’s also the quality that’s allowed me to evolve. I’ve had to be present with myself—to listen to my own intuition, my own inner nudges, even when they led me down paths that felt uncertain or unconventional. Presence has helped me build a brand that isn’t just about therapy—it’s about liberation, sovereignty, and soul.

At the end of the day, presence is love in action. And that’s what I believe truly transforms people.
