We’re looking forward to introducing you to Oz’Unique Moore. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Oz’Unique , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me is waking up saying my prayers , hydrating , & eating breakfast. I usually will set content to post while I’m at work . Once I’m off I try to do something productive rather it’s laundry , spending quality time with family or friends , or meditating.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Oz’Unique Moore I’m the Owner of Aries Bratz Collection. I do hair & makeup , I also sell bathing suits, fashionable glasses, & beaded bracelets. What makes my business interesting is I’m a 1 stop shop , I work at a convenient pace , and you’re definitely gonna be satisfied from the time you come to get serviced; until you leave . I’ve been in the beauty industry for about 5 years and I’ve seen the drastic change from trending styles to the unique colors . Lately I’ve been working on rebranding my business now that I’m 23 . I love what I’ve created & all the clientele I received so I would like to show appreciation to all my supporters in a different way.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I believe what breaks the bonds between people in this society is lack of emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize, understand, manage, & influence emotions both in ourselves & in others. Relationships whether it’s friendship, family or romantic are both sensitive & resilient at the same time . Which means the proper way to deal with conflict is to properly use your emotions wisely , rather than being ruled by them to guide behavior. I believe what restores bonds is empathy, honest communication, & commitment to evolve. To restore a bond you have to be able to genuinely listen & understand the other’s perspective. You have to be willing to speak openly about desires, hurts, and needs. It’s also important to show growth not just speak about it or apologize.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I believe my biggest fear that has held me back the most is taking up space with my spotlight . I’ve always been humble , never had to do much to get acknowledged. But I never want anyone to feel like I’m dimming there light so I’ll give them their flowers & try to help them blossom. While I miss out on opportunities to show my full potential. I believe if I succeed others will resent me & that fear has always kept me in a corner . I ask myself all the time if I’m deserving of all I have because I know there’s others that don’t. I know my abilities to make an impact in my community but I want my light to encourage others to step into theirs.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
I believe the biggest lie the beauty industry misleads is we have to look, dress, & perform a certain way to be considered “IT”. Insecurities are exploited daily by marketers who sell products for profit but rarely provide lasting results or increased benefits. Although standards of beauty shift every season ; it’s a dependency cycle that keeps people coming back more consistently. For example: thin eyebrows 90’s inspo, lip injections, soft glams, 2000s fashion etc. The beauty industry has people seeking for approval, & validation when it starts within. Not all of the beauty industry is manipulation because some people use makeup , skincare products, & preferred fashion brands for self expression & creativity. The problem is when the external pressure from the beauty industry overrides people’s personal choices .
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes , I believe praise is nice but it’s not the fuel to keep me going . It’s a blessing to wake up everyday & have the opportunity to do whatever I put my mind to. I live my life to the best of my abilities to show gratitude to myself & God . I rather be internally satisfied than externally validated & still not appreciated. It does not require an audience to give yourself a pat on your back . Showing up for yourself shows integrity, self respect, & accountability. I believe in we arrive alone , we leave alone so the inner journey it’s ultimately personal which only needs a hand clap & praise to yourself from yourself.
