Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Ryan Henning of Southeastern

Ryan Henning shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Ryan, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
For me, I’m blessed with the ability to be successful in business and in my family. A normal day for me is waking up and taking my kids to school. Then after that, I come home and prepare my day. I read emails regarding deals, and also reach out to my team about our goals for the week. Depending on the day I’ll have some coaching calls as well. My day is time blocked so I can do the heavy lifting early enough to give my children my undivided attention when they get home from school. Finally, we have dinner, I spend time with my wife, and prep for the next day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Ryan Henning, I’m a husband, father, entrepreneur, and content creator. Along with my family, I run HANGING WITH THE HENNINGS, a YouTube channel where we share day to day life, adventures and lessons our way. I also help manage my Wife Summer Reign Henning and her brand deals and creative direction.

Individually, I also coach and mentor future entrepreneurs on financial literacy and strategy to help create steady foundations. Right now now, my focus is helping people in the ways I once needed it.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
That’s an easy answer, my wife. My wife has always been a source of power for me and my journey. There was a time where I had no clear direction and no plan for myself beyond what I could see in front of me. She provided that spark of optimism that some lose as they get older and life gets more difficult.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me that at the end of the day, it’s just all noise. Criticism, negativity, it’s all in your own head. There will be outside noise trying to dictate how you live, but in the end it is up to you how you choose to walk in life.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Building something sustainable for the people I care about. I don’t want to just provide tangible items or money, I want to provide resources and opportunities for my loved ones to build something greater than they thought they could ever build.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think people will see what I am building financially and focus on that more than the people I’ve reached. I want people to define my legacy by talking to the people whose lives I’ve positively influenced to be great.
