We recently had the chance to connect with Juanita Woodson and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Juanita, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Since releasing Own Your Impact, I’ve been receiving such heartfelt feedback from readers that it’s made me both laugh and feel proud. One reader told me they had to put the book down mid-chapter because they were so convicted—they joked that I was “all in their business” without even knowing them. That made me laugh, but it also reminded me why I wrote this book in the first place. Hearing that my words are inspiring people to think bigger, move differently, and own their purpose has been such a proud moment for me as an author.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Juanita Woodson, an author, speaker, and founder of The Authors Impact Hub—a space designed to help authors connect with their audience, amplify their message, and create lasting impact. I’m also the founder of Moments for Moms: Legacy Unlocked, a movement and event series that equips and inspires mothers to embrace their God-given influence and build a legacy worth passing on. I’m passionate about showing people that their words carry weight and that their stories can change lives. What makes my work unique is that it’s rooted in authenticity—I don’t just teach strategies, I live them.
My latest book, Own Your Impact, challenges people to stop playing small with their purpose. The feedback I’ve been getting from readers has been humbling and energizing—people are saying it’s making them rethink how they show up in life and business. Right now, I’m focused on expanding The Authors Impact Hub, growing Moments for Moms: Legacy Unlocked, and creating more resources that help writers and mothers turn their message into movement.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
Hands down, my parents. Both of them are ministry leaders and entrepreneurs, so I grew up watching them wear many hats and still give their best in everything they did. From an early age, they instilled in me and my siblings the value of hard work, integrity, and showing up with excellence—whether anyone was watching or not. That example shaped how I approach my calling, my business, and even my writing today.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely. The years 2023–2025 have been the most challenging of my life. I faced serious health issues, went through multiple surgeries, and endured the devastating loss of my twin brothers—Mekhi in 2023 and Micah in 2024. Those back-to-back blows shook my world to its core and made me question if I even had the strength to keep going. But it was in those same moments of deep pain that I birthed my communities—The Authors Impact Hub and Moments for Moms: Legacy Unlocked—and found a new level of strength I didn’t know I had. What I thought would break me ended up building me.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies in my industry is that you have to wait until everything is perfect before you get started. The truth is, perfection is a moving target—you’ll never reach it. If I had waited until my book, my brand, or my platform felt “perfect,” Own Your Impact and the communities I’ve built wouldn’t even exist today. Impact happens when you start where you are, with what you have, and commit to growing along the way.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I had 10 years left, I’d stop doubting myself, questioning my voice, and playing small—immediately. I’d show up fully, speak boldly, and walk in the authority God has given me without hesitation. Life is too short to dim your light when you were created to shine.
